Cheapest Laptop With an IPS Display

So next yearish, I'll need a new laptop. After using the 16:10 ProArt sitting in front of me for 5 months, looking at one of those 15.6" 1366x768 TN panels that almost every laptop seems to have is like being stabbed. It's unbearable. I want the cheapest laptops (dont care what brand) with these specs:

MINIMUM 13" Display W/ MINIMUM 1920x1080 Resolution

MINIMUM i5 BUT PREFERABBLY i7 CPU

MINIMUM 8GB of RAM W/ MINIMUM 1600MHz Frequency

MINIMUM 1TB HDD BUT PREFERABBLY MINIMUM 256GB SSD OR HDD W/ SSD

MINIMUM GTX 840M

PREFERABBLY METAL CONSTRUCTION

The form factor doesn't matter too much, thinner and lighter is preferred as it will be used primarily for school. A Razer Blade 2014 would be absolutely perfect, but I can't justify that kind of money. My more powerful rig costs a little over half as much.

Comments

  • IF YOU HAVE A MORE POWERFUL RIG WHY DO YOU NEED SUCH A HIGH SPEC LAPTOP ESPECIALLY FOR SCHOOL?

Ps. the powerful rig needs a new caps lock button by the looks of it.

    • Hahahaha I guess it does. I refuse to get an i3 because basically no i3 laptops have dedicated GPUs. Integrated graphics W/ 1080p display = :(

  • Ikr, what are you going to do on it? Video editing?, Blender?, Unity?. You do not need a high spec notebook for school unless you are doing games design

    • Some video editing, photoshopping and casual gaming. Its mainly for the display.

  • Whats your budget around? Pretty well specced laptops from Horize pop up on Ozbargain for around $1000 occasionally.

    • Found one for $900 base price :)

      What's the build quality like?

      • +1

        where?

  • +1

I think being stabbed is more than just unbearable.

Nice specs though and am interested in this too. Thanks for posting.

    • Fair enough, maybe I exaggerated a bit. No problem :)

  • So a Horize for around $900 base is good? Which one?
