Ahh, Royal Brunei ?? I'm flying out of Adelaide, so would need to add a return flight to Melbourne.
Currently ADL-BKK return is $950 with Malaysian Air. Does this sound like a good deal for April 2015 (1 week after eastern states school hols).

look at Royal Brunei. One stop over in Brunei of one to two hours. I really enjoy the spacious dreamliner. seems to be better for jet lag.
Flights only from Melbourne. Afternoon flight arrives in BKK at 8 p.m. Return flights 13.30 arrives MEL at 05.50 a.m.
check that the flights, usually Wednesday Thursday , continue on to BKK rather than stop over in Brunei at your own cost.
flights now available at under AU$670 return even during school hols which are 27/3 to 13 APRIL.
Sometimes specials pop up after January holiday makers return. often between then and beginning of school hols.
NB there is no alcohol on flights and some people find this annoying.
April will be quite hot and sticky as it is the hot dry season before the rain comes.
