I was playing The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for the first time this morning and dominated Satan while unlocking all the non-secret characters in about 2 hours of total gameplay thanks to an unstoppable combination of items I picked up along the way. From memory it took me a between 5 and 10 times longer than that to even beat Mom for the first time on the original which got me wondering what kind of cool combos other people have had.
While this combo doesn't compare to some of the things I was doing on the original it was still awesome to get so early in the new game, I can't remember most of the names of the items or exactly what I had but basically the main ingredients to the combination are below.
I played with Samson who has bloody lust which on Rebirth increases your attack every time you get hit instead of every enemy you kill but it lasts the whole floor and not just your current room. Very early on I got a Goat's head which had some effects I can't really remember but the biggest one for me was that it made a devil room appear after every boss fight. I traded all my hearts and ended up with a familiar that for every two red hearts (even if it was two half hearts) it ate gave me a soul heart, an item that had a chance to give you a soul heart when you got hit, a whole bunch of familiars, the Book of Revelations which gave me a soul heart every 6 rooms cleared, a cube of meat, pretty fly, and some bandages circling me as well as various stat increases along the way. On top of that I ended up getting the dead cat which gave me nine lives and also bumped me up to a single red heart (Not that I needed it). Because I had a massive surplus of soul hearts the whole time (because in Rebirth there is a limit now -_-) I was hurting myself on purpose to increase my attack and plowing through Mom (huehuehue) and Satan insanely easy. I'll add a screenshot of what I looked like when I'm back on my computer later.
