Best Way to Repatriate Funds Back to Australia from The UK?

Hey All,

Anyone have any useful advice on repatriating UKĀ£'s savings back to Australia in Aussie $'s? Don't want to exchange it at my appalling UK or Aussie bank rates. Plus they charge a bomb for the transfer. I've heard people talking about some BankWest Zero card or something - perhaps that's unrelated? Anyway savvy travellers & tight-arses, any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks…!

    I use UKforex.co.uk

    • This. Use a currency exchange - not a bank.

I usually find OzForex to be the most competitve ROE.

Depends on the timeframe you require your funds but I have parked majority of my capital in the UK (Due to ROE) & still musing when to send the funds back. Potential for further signficant gains IMO, especially if the BOE begins to raise rates later in the year. Angle worth exploring at the very least.

    • Thanks Carpe. Great advice. I have been using Oanda, but they recently ceased FX trading. On the lookout for a good alternative..

  • transferwise.com works well for me - they have an app which makes it a snap. Rates are very close to market rates. Only problem is it takes 5ish days to process/clear.
