How old are the users of OzBargain?

Just curious as to the age spread of the community and who are the biggest bargain hunters?

Young and cheap uni students? Middle aged workers? Pensioners?

Being a cheapskate transcends age, gender and race

    • None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm. ~Henry David Thoreau cant be Ozbargainers

Thats why we have Ozbargains. The old often have more money thus contribute more, so bargains flow - or not

Be reasonable, my grandparents struggle to stay awake past 9pm most days…

Hey "Richard Craniums", a lot of us oldies can't be bothered answering this question as it hasn't any stated purpose, therefore probably only inserted to a): give the creator some sort of satisfaction that they have "made it" onto the front page - however briefly, and/or b) satisfy their idle curiosity or c) hasn't anything constructive to do at work or d) all the above.
And yes I "struggle to make it past 9pm". But I do rise at 3.45am to go to work morning shift. How many months can you go with 6hrs sleep a night (+ an average of 2 nights a week of 4hrs sleep)?
Remember one thing: You too will be this age one day (if you're lucky) and have to wear all this sort of puerile comment from the know-all younger generation.

  • IM pretty sure there's already a forum post on this topic already! While people are physically those ages, but I dont think so for mentally.

    • Too right. As long as we are young at heart, we can be forgiven for buying so much crap.

      • Nah, i was just curious as to the ages. Saw the post about surprising the missus etc and a lot of the comments seemed relevant to middle aged people, and it got me thinking.

  • Ripped off from someone else..

In general, more educated and more affluent people are more likely to participate in surveys than less educated and less affluent people (Curtin, Presser, and Singer, 2000; Goyder, Warriner, & Miller, 2002; Singer, van Hoewyk, & Maher, 2000),.

Women are more likely to participate than men (Curtin et al 2000; Moore & Tarnai, 2002; Singer et al 2000),

Younger people are more likely to participate than older people (Goyder, 1986; Moore & Tarnai, 2002)

White people are more likely to participate than non-white people (Curtin et al 2000; Groves, Singer, & Corning, 2000; Voight, Koepsell & Daling, 2003)

And Being in one of the classes above I didn't vote… :)

So much for online survey accuracy

    • ???

    • What RockyRaccoon said.

    • Near impossible to have an unbaised questionnaire or quiz in any circumstances. Even random samples often have a selection bias. I got the data i was looking for.

Now to create some pretty charts and formulas on excel

  • Besides a 151 person response sample is not very accurate in revealing "readership/usership" is it?

    • How do you recommend I lower the bias?

If I waste this much time on ozbargain when I'm meant to be working, imagine what I'll be like when I retire?
