I guess one could subscribe $15 for the first month. Get your free Universal Music promo account and then cancel. Universal Music is a separate service so I doubt it is tied to your newspaper subscription. You can't do this see Point 18 of the T&C.

Key points from T&C…

*4. To be eligible to claim a gift, consumers must sign-up to be a digital subscriber to either the Sydney Morning Herald at http://www.smh.com.au/universal or the Age at http://www.theage.com.au/universal during the Promotion Period. Subscription sign up is subject to the Promoter’s own Terms and Conditions for subscription.

*5. Only new subscribers only are eligible for the gift claim. This offer is limited to one gift per customer only. The gift is personal to each customer, and cannot be transferred, shared or assigned in any manner.

*11. The gift consists of twenty six (26) free digital album downloads from Universal Music, which may be redeemed in accordance with the terms below.

*12. Upon their purchase of a new digital subscription in accordance with clause 4 above, each eligible customer shall be automatically allocated a unique registration code via SMS, along with a URL pointing them to where they need to register.

*13. Subscribers will have until 31st December 2014 to register their code, otherwise it will be forfeited.

*14. Upon registration of their unique code, the customer will receive credit for the redemption of 26 digital albums across the 6-month period immediately following their registration.. Subscribers will have 7 days to download their first album, and after this period, another 7 days to download their second album and so on, until the 6 month period is up, and their credit expires.

*15. Subscribers must redeem their digital album downloads at a bespoke Fairfax/Universal music online redemption store, which will be notified to the customer by the Promoter.

*16. One digital album download a week permitted only. If subscriber does not download their album within that week it is forfeited. Download credit does not accumulate. The final date for redemption of all digital albums is 30 June 2015. No downloads will be made available to customers after this date.

*17. Subscribers can download any album on the store with some exceptions, including double albums and certain limited release albums. This may change from time to time and is at the discretion of the Promoter and Universal Music.

18. If a customer who would otherwise be eligible for gifts under this promotion unsubscribes from their Fairfax digital subscription before the 6 month redemption period is up, they will forfeit their remaining free downloads. Downloads are only given to those who continue to subscribe for the entire 6-month redemption period.

    I'm debating of whether to get this. $15 for 4 albums a month isn't too bad is it? Just under $4 per album
