Installing a printer driver on a Acer Chromebook

Hello

Do I have any chance of installing a printer driver for Fuji Xerox Docuprint M205b on an Acer chromebook?

I have just spent the last hour googling and trying to find this out from the Fuji website, thought I would just ask you guys for advice as I am pretty computer illiterate sorry!

Thanks for any responses.

  • Chromebook doesn't print directly but uses Cloudprint. You need another machine running Chrome and logged into Google to drive the printer.

    • Chromebooks or Chromeboxes (ie ChromeOS) can now print directly from the Chromebook to the printer as a local device.

Google Cloud Print (GCP) is still available of course.

  • Thank you greenpossum,

Just to clarify I've got this correct - do you mean i need another machine which does have the driver on it?
If so our old laptop which did have the driver on it is completely dead, I do have the driver disc but its no good now we have a chromebook and ipad.

    • Yes it can be a laptop or desktop running Chrome. That's what is meant when they say a Chromebook is a cloud device, it relies on services provided elsewhere.

In principle a copy shop could provide Cloudprint services, but I don't know of any locally.
