What Food to Bring on Plane?

Hi,

I'll be on a flight to Japan in 7 hours, not sure what food i should take on the plane as i skimped out on the meal.

Any suggestions?

What do you guys normally bring?

Thanks

    2 footlongs, (using a 2-for 1 voucher of course!)

Cheese and bacon rolls? Something else from a bakery. Snacks like muesli bars, chocolate bars, nuts?

Canned tuna, kimchi, curry, etc. Should ensure you have spare seats around you to spread out during the flight.

    • wouldn't bring canned tuna as it may cause headaches at the airport. Maybe the tuna in the bag.

  • Krispy Kreme =D

  • instant noodles…. ask the flight attendants to put hot water in your cup

Flight attendants hate that. Everyone asks them for noodles once they can smell them.

  • Don't take potato chips. The packaging expands and if not opened carefully the chips will go everywhere once you pop the plastic.

Remember, the plastic might pop when you don't want it too.

+1 this, and if I could, I'd plus it some more.
Nothing worse than hearing a bang on a plane, then have people look at you funny.
Also, even worse to find out your Doritos have now scattered their cheesy content all over the insides of your backpack.

    • Eat a nice hot dinner at airport, red rooster eveUstef just drink water on plane. 7 hours flight is nothing. Better to eat before or after than on

Oops replied to wrong comment. On chips issue above though, pre open before boarding

always put a hole in the bag when arriving at the airport to stop any possible pop.

I take chips every time I fly, last time I came back from qld I had 4 large bags of Red Rock Deli chips in my carry on (don't ask…) and I've never had a problem? If you think it's going to be an issue then just put a tiny hole in the bag before you leave or repackage into clipseal bags.

    • Can confirm - you have to be careful when you open them. These Twisties on a $10 Tiger flight from Melbourne to Perth are proof: http://i.imgur.com/dCjVAIZ.jpg

  • You'll need drinks too. I like bringing a can of fizzy. Because it's fizzier up there.

Just pack one of those wee camping stoves into your hand luggage, 3 or 4 cans of compressed butane gas, and a large assortment of marinated red-meats, seafood and veggies. You'll have no problems at all with "pesky popping chip packets" that way, AND you'll be the envy of the crew and passengers alike, once the yummy smoky smells permeate the cabin.

    • Exactly, and I like my meat freshly killed and usually do the butchering on board.

      • but just make sure you grease the pig up beforehand so it makes it harder to catch as it races under everyone's seats squealing away as you chase it with your Mick Dundee "that's not a knife…this is a knife" knife.

  • I take an empty water bottle and fill it up after security. And, if I haven't booked meals onboard, then 2 frozen whole meal bread + ham sandwiches and a couple of apples. Not messy and reasonably healthy.

      but damn that's so boring,

Few slices of caraway rye sourdough bread, one diced red onion in a plastic container, a plastic fork and two cans of sardines in oil and some ripe blue cheese in a plastic zip lock bag. If the airline is too cheap to feed you, they can enjoy the stench of your snacks. :-D

If security have issue with the sardine cans, open them right there in front of them and transfer the contents into a plastic container with a clip lid. They can keep the cans in their bin, right under their noses. Make sure a bit of the sardine oil drips down the side of their counter so they can have fond memories of trying to take your food away long after the bins have been emptied. :-O

a bag of Allens Snakes…snakes on a plane

  • cheapest option: fast

  • I know someone who took some Durian on a plane for a snack, i do not recomend this, if you have experienced a Durian you will no doubt know the smell, which led to flight staff rushing about the plane searching for a "gas leak".

One eventually spotted the Durian eater, asked if it was a Durian and upon confirmation requested that the container be closed and not eaten on board.

(the person was later told the plane had begun making plans for an emergency landing due to the concern about the smell of "gas")

    So.. um, not Durian!

    • Seriously Off-spoke, you did nae realise that post was a gag?

      • Im not sure what your purpose for this comment was/is. Unless its a terribly amusing gag?

        • I'm not sure what the purpose of your comment asking what the purpose of my comment was/is, is. I am not amused.

        • @GnarlyKnuckles:
I am sure I might know what the purpose of all the comments could be. I am thinking I could be mildly amused if it continued. :D

Seriously though, Snickers or something similar to that.

Seriously though, Snickers or something similar to that.

Or, if you're perhaps planning ahead for the REAL Richard Branson missions to space "soon to air" (despite recent set-backs), perhaps a "MARS BAR" would curry more favour with the locals, when you arrive on said planet?

Pack a few and "do yourself a flavour…"

Oh hang on, that was life-savers…

Oh but hang on, pack some of them too… probably prudent.
