What about putting which OS this works on…

And a little detail about what it is

Done, although none of these two details were in the Amazon AU post either and nobody complained.

It's a great game but I only recently came across a post from shiftyjelly, the Aussie devs behind Pocket Casts that everyone should read if they haven't done so regarding the Amazon Appstore and especially their app of the day promotion.

    http://blog.shiftyjelly.com/2011/08/02/amazon-app-store-rott…

    • Dont see what the problem is.Amazon has its own problems (look for articles about work conditions for their own employees case in point..), but having a quick look at that blog - sounds like the free promo thing was basically it - a big chance for a given app to advertise in big way on a major site for free - maybe amazon made mistake of showing what the dev * might* have paid if they were paid sales but i dont see anything wrong with it aside from amazon's seemingly total control over the pricing…..

    • Thanks; an interesting post.
I'm not all that sympathetic to the 'free app of the day' thing: developers can choose not to participate and it sounds like a prudent developer would. The conditions were clear and the company decided to accept the promotional deal anyway. It's a crap deal, but they were certainly in a position to say no.
I have a substantial collection of free-app-of-the-day's that I will probably never use, but for those ones I do use I am an overhead for the developers.
(Note: I did actually think that Amazon paid the developers, although I also thought it was bizarre that they did - which makes more sense now that I know they don't).

The other points are much more damning, in my opinion: most importantly, these two:
      * Amazon gets to set the price of your app to whatever they want, without any input from you, or even the chance to reject their price*
      * You can’t remove apps from their store! You have to ask them for permission via an email. Every other store lets you remove apps from sale.

The former is just ludicrous (which is kind of what smurfinaus was saying, actually), and the second is pretty crazy too.

  • Getting this app came with $1 promotional credit towards Amazon Digital music albums or single songs!

  • Thank you, glad I didn't spend my amazon coins on this a couple weeks ago!

  • Cheers OP, although I already went through the colossal effort of changing me account from US to AU yesterday to get it on the AU store. Ah, the benefit of hindsight!

  • Grabbed this (not sure if this thread or the other one), and I am really impressed.

Interesting puzzle concept and beautifully drawn.

  • great game. shame its so short.
