What Courier Companies Ship Fragile Items and Pack Them?

I'm looking at purchasing an item from Sydney. It's a 5ft wooden fragile statue. The problem is it's very fragile and the seller doesn't have any way of packing the item up. I was wondering if anyone knows of any companies that pack fragile items as well as couriering them. I know pack and send do, but they never got back to me with an online quote, so i'm looking for another option.

Or if anyone has an approx idea of what pack and send might charge for this type of thing?

Dimensions:

152cm H
40cm W
40cm L
Weight: 15kg

thanks for any help in advance.

  • Usually the big ones like TOLL, UPS, DHL are good. You can also buy insurance for it.

Is it a very valuable work of art?

    • It's only about $300. It's more so i need a company to package it as well as the shipping side.

  • I recently got a quote from Pack and Send to box up and send an A3 printer worth less than $100 from Sydney to Melbourne.

60 x 30 x 20. 10kg. quote was $145. (ended up boxing it myself and sent it using Smart Send for less than $30)

    • Obviously you nearly got ripped off mate. I've sent 4 car wheels and tyres from melb to syd for only $120 shipped, they packed it as well. It all depends which franchise of pack n send you use. They all gave different quotes.

      • Probably depends on what you're sending too. Wheels and tires are an easy job with not much risk. A printer needs more careful packing and there's more risk of damage.

I reckon Pack and Send would quote $400 to send the statue. Then they'd take it out the back and smash it up, pay you $300 in damages and pocket $100. Easy money.

  • You may also want to check out Cope who specialise in "sensitive freight". I haven't used them personally, so have no idea of the costs involved, but have received equipment racks from a company that uses them. http://www.cope.com.au/

  • Buy a ticket and fly with it. Should be cheaper!
