Best Jeweller (Online or Sydney) - Buying Wedding Band/Ring

Hi all

Anyone have recommendations for a jeweller to buy a female wedding band? My wife has lost two of them now so we're looking for a reasonably priced replacement (not a reflection of our marriage I assure you haha. More an occupational hazard of being a busy part time doctor/full time mum).

Looking for something simple but nice. Previously we've bought in singapore so I've got no experience on where to start here. Online or in Sydney is fine. Cheers!

If you can source it from SE Asia then it will save you heaps.
I've never bought any jewelry in Australia but I've seen the catalog specials with 50% off prices. still they are ridiculously expensive.
If you are planning to spend couple of thousand on the ring (I am just assuming you can afford that much since your wife is a doctor) then definitely offshore buying will save you heaps.

    • I completely agree that Aussie prices are pretty terrible! We've always bought from Singapore since we travel there every year and what you get for your money is so much better! unfortunately with a new bub coming very soon we won't be travelling back anytime soon, hence this request.

When you say wedding band, are you referring to just a gold band, no stones etc?
I've had good experiences with Bluenile.com if you want stones.

I had a good experience with jamesallen.com got stone and bands

  • I've heard good things about jogiadiamonds and plan to purchase from there too

I'm amazed someone hasn't designed a new way of showing 'married' without a ring. Maybe a certain bracelet design? Doctors, tradies, mechanics would really love having to not take their ring off again.

    • There's the Cartier love bracelet. I've seen tradies get a ring tattoo

      • Yeah that looks nice. I think tatts could be a very good replacement, just that they're fairly dark colour. It's certainly permanent, or very expensive and painful to laser off!

  • Not based in Sydney, but I am, and I had a great experience with Utopian Creations in Adelaide.

They will design something unique and special for you, or work with you to refine your own design, and send you photos throughout the process (e.g. a lump of metal, then flattened, cut, rolled, etc.)

They use only guaranteed conflict free diamonds, which is often difficult to find at many other jewellers. The usual "no blood diamonds" are usually impossible to guarantee because smuggling across borders is widespread and documentation is poor. Also their specific rules about what constitutes a blood diamond is too specific, something about a rebel force being active, but nothing about torture and other conflict caused by actual governments.

Australian and Canadian diamonds have comprehensive tracking from the mine to the cutting floor to the jeweller, or vintage diamonds (sourced before the blood diamond conflicts started) are safe.

Utopian Creations also has access to a master engraver who has worked on Wimbledon trophies etc. but moved to Adelaide for a sea change. His work is truly phenomenal. Here's a link to his Facebook page:

  • Hang on…
She is a doctor and u want to save money on buying 2 rings?
    right,….

  • I ordered my husband's wedding band from an American website called www.cachetcollections.com a few years ago. Their Bvlgari ring worked out to be more than $300 cheaper than buying locally even after paying the $70 delivery fee. You have to email them first to put through an International purchase, but the owner lady is really nice and the whole thing only took about two weeks from first contact to receiving the order in the mail. Otherwise you can go to Asian jewelry stores, nobody does gold like Asians.

    Good luck.
