[PC][UPLAY US] Watch Dogs free with Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris US$17.99 [VPN needed]

110

As Part of Ubisoft Black Friday Sale you can get Watch Dogs and a number of other games free with a full price purchase. The Australian store has this deal too (with some better discounts as well) but doesn't have Watch Dogs available as a free game.

The cheapest game you can buy to get Watch Dogs free is Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris pre-order (releases on December 9) for US$17.99.

To purchase off the US store you need to use a VPN. I used Hola Chrome plug-in and set the region to US.

I first tried using PayPal but that failed then I followed these instructions and paid directly on the site: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/143792

The instructions that worked for me are:
1-Added Lara Croft to Cart
2-A list of free game is shown but doesn't list Watch Dogs, hit back and click on Watch Dogs and you can add it to cart for free, or search for it and it will be discounted to $0.00 as well and add it to cart.
3-Disable javascript in your browser.
4-Go to checkout
5-Login with your e-mail and password.
6-Now just fill the fields with your payment informations. I used a fake US address (Google headquarters). Also tick Accept terms and conditions
7-After doing that, you will not be able to click the confirm button because you disabled javascript. Just click on the last field and press enter.
8-Then you get your order and payment info summary. Press the confirm button.
9-Now just wait for the confirmation e-mail.

Watch Dogs is added to your account immediately for download, and I presume Lara Croft will be added on release.

I'm not sure if Watch Dogs is meant to be free since it doesn't show up in list after adding the first game. It could be an error and will be removed or could simply be an error that it doesn't show up in the second free game list.

No more Ubisoft for me. Buggy games, always online DRM, that dreadful Uplay thing, forget it.

  • Awesome deal! Hopefully it's still active when I get home tonight.

  • Tried so many times. Doesn't work. Gave up. Keeps telling "Server Error"

I was getting that hence I used the Disable Javascript trick. I also paid by CC direct on the web site rather than use Paypal since paypal doesn't work with Javascript disabled, although maybe you can turn it back on and it works, didn't try.

  • If you want a cheap copy of watch dogs for uplay, fast2play has it for around 11.50 AUD.

  • Just an update on that, I have just received an email from Ubisoft saying my order was cancelled due to non-payment received after 3 days. I checked my CC and no payment was made so I don't know how it got through in the first place. I still have Watch Dogs in my account though and it launches fine so who knows how long before they revoke it. For now I'll enjoy playing for free :)

I'd say my CC didn't like me using a US billing address that didn't match my home address.

  • Was excited by the Osiris thing until I read that it was Uplay and not Steam. I'm good.

    • It's still Steam even if you get it on UPlay store. I have it in my games list on UPlay but when I clicked Play it launches Steam with a code. From there you can just play it on Steam, once it launches of courses, it's only a pre-load for now.

      • After that, will you be able to launch it from Steam and bypass Uplay?

Can Watch Dogs also be launched from Steam?

        • Yes I'm pretty sure you can launch Lara Croft from Steam without needing UPlay running although I can't check 100% until game is released but suffice it to say it is activated on Steam like any other game code. If you click play on UPlay it launches it on Steam so I don't see how clicking Play on Steam will launch Uplay. At the moment I have it pre-loaded on Steam and will be able to play it tomorrow.

Watch Dogs is not a Steam game. Even if you buy it on Steam it will launch UPlay to play it so it makes no difference if you have it on Steam or Uplay although you'll need it on Steam to take advantage of Steam sales for any DLC.

Hope that answers all your questions.

I can confirm Lara Croft launches on Steam without needing to run UPlay if you purchase it from UPlay/Ubi store.

      • Trying to private message you but you don't have PMs enabled.
