Advice Needed on Soundbars

Hey guys,

Looking to buy a soundbar to match a new UHD TV I'll be buying over the weekend (hoping to bundle to get a further discount). I also don't know if I need Dolby/DTS/passthrough/active/passive/etc. Looking to spend around $500.

I've heard a Pioneer in person, a cheap Samsung and friend's Sonos. Pioneer sounded good, Samsung sounded tinny, and Sonos sounded great (but is $1400 with sub).

Requirements
wireless sub
bluetooth
good sounds (bass, mid, highs)
optical/hdmi in

Any opinions on below, not sure if it has all the features I need or another is more suitable;

  • Ive got one of these - replaced an LGE one with it (which was rubbish)

Excellent - If its a Samsung TV, it integrates really well - My TV is a Samsung F9000.

Turn TV on, Sound bar come on etc…

I rate the sound fairly high, but to be honest, my area is not huge…

We use it as a Blu-Tooth airplay device for our ios devices for music etc. Also has a USB port Flash drives.

Wireless setup - turned on the soundbar, turned on the sub - Connected automatically !

Turned on TV - Automatically found soundbar and prompted to connect - too easy.

Plenty on fine tuning options available for bass etc..

    Hope this helps

    • Cheers! The specs say yours has 4.1, to be honest I don't know how that works differently to the device decoding 2.1, or 5.1 streams…does it simulate that sound? How big is your room, how loud can it go?

    • So I ended up with the H751 as well, should arrive tomorrow. Got a UHD Sammy so figured having this working together would be wife-proof. To be continued…

  • I've got a JBL SB400 - had it for about 18months now. 2.1 only, but sounds good, clear, loud (never had it maxed out) and perfect for our apartment.

Only complaint - to connect a bluetooth device you physically have to push the button on the bar. Not hard, but would have been nice to be able to do it with the remote.

  • Not sure. I suppose it must.
    Probably 6mtrs x 5mtrs

Very loud. I have 2 little kids, so I've had been able to test how loud it goes.
