Need to use DSE gift card but would rather cash

Hey all, sorry for the longish story.

I noticed that DSE had the black Friday sale today and was interested in purchasing a baby monitor. Had the great idea of buying wish gift card from woolies to get a further 5% off (mebank paypass rebate). Purchased dick smith wish gift card and headed back to work to complete my online order (discounted price was online only). After getting an error when entering card/pin number I was informed that dick smith online do not accept wish gift cards, I have to use gift card for purchases in-store. Went back to woollies and they said they could not refund gift cards. Unfortunately I purchased the dick smith specific wish gift card and not the woolworths ones (stupid me  )

I could try sell gift card at 15% discount but I'd rather than be a last resort if all else fails

Any ideas on what items I could purchase on gift card then sell on ebay/gumtree that would see me get close to the purchase price back? I guess I can keep out for bargains but generally don’t frequent dick smith stores normally.

    I've used WISH cards on DSE multiple times this year - they DO work.

    That could have been old stock u used. They said cards starting with 6 (as mine is) dont work online.

    I bought something from DSE once with a giftcard and then returned it a week later expecting another giftcard but they just gave me cash. This was a few years ago though

    Are there any T&C's on the card that state that it can't be used online? If not I think I'd be giving ACCC a call.

    Theres nothingto say that at all. It even has dse.com.au on the front of the card!

    Turns out i can use the dick smith gift card at woolies. Good result!
