UK Travel: 500 UK Minutes, Unlimited UK Texts and 1GB Internet for One Month for £10! Giffgaff!

Moved to Forum: Original Link

You will need a UK address so that the Sim Card can be sent out.

Hello everyone, if you are travelling to the UK soon then order a sim card for when you arrive. It can be sent to a family members address or elsewhere. It is free to order and it is not a contract. If you decide you don't want the sim card then just discard it.

I ordered one just before I moved over here so that I was not tied in to a contract.

Furthermore, if you order through the link at the top of the page you will get £5 extra credit. I will also get £5 worth of credit, which will help me call family and friends back home, out here in Australia!

You get the following:
500 UK minutes, unlimited UK texts and 1 GB Internet for one month for just £10! The internet is also 4G.

There are other prepaid plans available.

I would also like to add that I am not employed by Giffgaff!

I hope someone can get a good deal here :)

  • Thanks! I am going to UK soon :D

  • No problem. They use the same masts as 02 and they are really good. It's similar to Telstra so it works everywhere, even in remote areas. I hope you enjoy the UK :)

  • Any good for roaming through Europe?

    • Would like to know this too please.

      • Please see my below comment :)

    • Please see my below comment :)

    • Vodafone has a £2/day to use your uk allowance
or if you're only after data they also have a £2/25mb/day

  • I know that there was something in the new recently about calls being capped to 18p a minute and texts around 5p or something and that seems to be in effect. I use it here in Australia and it is great. All networks in UK have good roaming so you don't necessarily have to use Giffgaff. If you find a better deal then just go with that one.

  • +1

Used Giffgaff in the UK in 2012…worked great…highly recommended. didn't use it outside the UK though.

  • how do we order one ?

    • Just tried & It seems as though you need a UK address for the sim to be sent out to??

      • Just click on the picture and it will take you to the website to order one, you can then choose your goodybag when it arrives. You will need a UK address so that it can be sent out. Good luck.

  • This website http://www.ukpostbox.com/ seems to be reasonably priced… Assuming they use regular mail pricing it shouldn't be more than £2 to forward to Australia…

I'll contact them and ask how much a standard letter should cost…

    • Wow, thanks mate. This looks great :)

  • Thanks, have just ordered one. Arrive in the UK next Tues, so hopefully it'll be there by the time I get there.

    • Did you use the link at the top of this page? If not, then you won't get the £5 extra credit but you might not need it anyway. I hope you enjoy the UK :)

      • I think I did, as I received an e-mail that says:

"As your rather thoughtful friend R…..-G….. recommended giffgaff to you, a giffgaff SIM card is on its way to you. It may take two or three days depending on how far the postie has to go."

        • Cool, I hope it all works out for you in the UK. I have used it here in Australia and the service has been great.

If you need any help with anything, send me a message.

  • If anyone is interested and wants to get this deal because they are going to the UK soon but not soon enough just to send to your hotel. I contacted a forwarding company.

Response is below :) OP feel free to add this to the post.

    Good morning

Thank you for your enquiry. A letter weighing between 11-20g with tracking is £6.28(A$11.65), without tracking is £1.28(A$2.37). A letter weighing 21-60g with tracking is £7.15 without tracking is £1.28. These costs are the shipping cost's only, if you have a Pay as You Go account with Uk Postbox there will be a receiving charge of 60p + a forwarding charge of 89p.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

So depending on how much the sim weighs it should be about $6 to send to Australia.

    • Wow, I think I might have to look at that service myself. Thank you!

  • My Giffgaff Sim is still active and I still use it occasionally. I managed to roam Europe and parts of SEA on it. Fairly cheap rates. Runs on the O2 network and has a fairly good community on line.

  • Also, for anyone wanting a new Australian Network. Vaya are offering free delivery (worth $20) and one month free credits to your account.

  • For those that have used this and activated a sim, how are you finding the coverage?
