Is there any cash back promotion @ the moment for Commonwealth Bank or Bank West?
Or any bank that have shopping points credit (rewards program) like those 2 bank above with low annual fee for 2 cards.
Edit: Gold Card

  • Hi Skippy,

You can check MoneyBackCo's Financial Section on current cashbacks offered through MBC.

Can't find any Commonwealth Bank deals at the moment through MBC, but you can get $40 cashback from

There are actually quite a few credit card offers through MBC — sorry you might have to check out these products yourself (or maybe someone else can share their experience?). Personally I use the BP-Citibank Mastercard which gives you 1% cashback on all purchases (cashback beats shopping points). However its annual fee is quite expensive, but if you use this BP staff family and friends deal you can get 1st year annual fee weaved + free $50 credit.

  • Thanks Scotty!
I'm currently using Commonwealth Bank Awards Card but want upgrade to Gold Card.
I like BP staff family and friends deal but I want gold card so do they have them for gold?
I have a quick look @ MBC https://secure.moneybackco.com/merchants.php?merchantid=951 but can't find any link for Gold card "Commissions are also being paid for the application made for the More Gold Mastercard product."
Is there any condition to get 15,000 points? "but you will also receive up to 15,000 bonus points when you activate your card."

  • Skippy,

I think $40 applies to both More Mastercard and More Gold Mastercard. Conditions for 15,000 bonus points are available on BankWest's site (when you click through MoneyBackCo). Here's the extract:

Bonus Points not available for BankWest card conversions. Offer ends 30 September 2007.

So I guess the offer has already expired. You might still be able to get $40 moneyback, but not the bonus points.

  • There is also this 'deal': http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/937

I signed up for the gold card and had no problems. It doesn't have annual fees, and kind of has cashback, but at a poor rate ($1 spent = 1 reward point and 5,000 points = $25… so a 0.5% cashback rate). That said, you'd have to be spending a lot to make up the difference you save from not having an annual fee.

A couple of things to bear in mind though, Citibank customer service is damn useless (I found this out trying to get an additional card (which also has no annual fee), which came with the name spelt incorrectly… and then took a LOT of phone calls to correct, not to mention paperwork etc.). The other thing to bear in mind is that the limit may not be overly high. My 'normal' Mastercard from Virgin Money has nearly twice the credit limit my 'gold' card from Citibank has. Nevertheless, I am generally happy as I really don't like paying annual fees.

Edit: I do realise this isn't exactly what you're asking for, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention incase you weren't aware of it.
