Where Is The Best Place to Buy Tyres?

Hey guys,

Some of you might have read my previous post about the MTA inspection. It went alright and I have decided to buy the car. The only downside is that the 2 front tyres need to be replaced. The measures are 215/60/16. I prefer Michelin/Bridgestone. Maybe the eco ones! This is my first car so I have no idea where to look for cheap tyres=].

Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Let your fingers do the walking. Call around and ask for their best prices until you feel that you have a fair price. When I buy tyres, I never pay the first price I get. You should be able to get them at about 25% less than RRP. I am no expert, you may even do better. Good luck.

  • It is best to ring around and see what each shop can do them for.

Bob Jane and Bridgestone are doing a deal at the moment with Bridgestone Ecopias [Buy 3 get 1 free]

To get an idea of the price, this site suggests $157 per tyre

Bought new set of tyres for my car a couple of months ago from K-Mart Auto and Tyre service, they beat Bob Jayne and the other competitors.

  • I have always found the best deals just by visiting a few local tyre retailers in person.
They usually have in house bargains that are not advertised :-)
Around here I have learnt to avoid the Bob Jane outlets :-(

    costco

  • Depends what state your in..

If your in VIC east there's a good place called The Wheel Deal in Baywswater. They do good prices that seem to beat most other retail stores.

    • I'm in Sydney

  • Blairs tyres if in Sydney/Wollongong.

    • Tempe - with service to boot.

  • Have you tried Costco Tyre Centre? Last month I was quoted $260 per tyre at Kmart for Bridgestone Potenzas, but eventually got them for $184 each at Costco.

  • Its worth paying a little extra for good tyres. You do get what you pay for. I replaced my wife's tyres for Achilles tyres and the ride is terrible. It's rough and noisy. There's a lot of cheap Chinese tyres on the market now days.

  • St George Tyres in Arncliffe is pretty good price imo.

  • I’m sure I read a thread a few years ago somewhere about buying tyres from overseas and you had to pick them up from somewhere when they arrived. Maybe in some sort of locker? They wouldn’t be delivered to your address.

  • Checkout tyresales online, they seem to be quite competitive on price. Let us know if you end up going with them as I have a referral code which gives us both a discount
