  • Thanks rep. Any chance on a smaller deal, ie 1kg or less?

Also, just throwing it out there… a friend of mine (full coffee snob) and myself (half coffee snob) have found these beans to be a bit 'hit and miss'. I've noticed comments from others that they find the beans really good, but personally, we find that sometimes the beans just don't produce a good cup. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Coffee preferences can be quite subjective and different coffee profiles and roasting profiles can vary greatly.
Depending on how people brew their coffee, ie milk based, espresso, filter, if buying from our standard website listings we perform an individual small batch roast and can tailor the roast exactly to suit your preferences and brewing methods.

With these Ozbargains deals we have to roast in bigger batches and therefore try to suit the majority and still offer a bit of variety for people to try different coffees.

It may be worth making some notes as to the type of coffees you like ie Brazilian chocolatey or more fruity etc and if you want some advise or to chat about your preferred brewing method or roast profiles your more than welcome to give me a ring or shoot me an email and I can try to help with some recommendations for you.

I'll bear the 1kg deal in mind for a future offer

      Hi Stix

There's always going to be some variation in the bean but by and large I find that Manna produces a fairly consistent product. Don't forget the other variables in the mix. Coffee is 99% water so make sure that you use good source. Filtered if you can, making sure that your filters are regularly changed. If you take your coffee with milk then this may also change with the season as the cows change their feed - depending on where you get your milk from. And then there is you, your own body chemistry and emotional state. Our flavour perception will be influenced by how we feel on the day.

  • $36.34 Kg Delivered.

    • What a bargain!

  • Thanks - Free xmas gift, can't wait!

  • Price is starting to get up there. Is coffee getting more expensive? Postage costs increasing? There are some nice coffee's in the bundle but it wasn't long ago you were selling 2kg delivered for $44!

The price of coffee has risen quite a bit this year due to droughts overseas. Especially in Brazil who produce around 40% of the worlds green coffee beans.

Hi Coley, I understand what you're saying but that was about 18 months ago. This deal needs to be a bit more expensive than others as they're not all cheap coffees but some decent single origins in the mix and much more labor intensive packing so many bags. Also extra coffee bags cost me extra money.

$44 for 2kgs when our express shipping costs $13 is barely breaking even at current coffee prices and quality of single origins on offer. Factor in the 20% weight loss during the roast process and on some of the coffee I'd be losing money at that price.

I'll look at a $50 deal in New year with some cheaper coffees :-)

      • Wasn't complaining , just wanted to know some of the reasons. Thanks for the answers.

I'm still buying regularly from you :) Keep up the good work.

        • Thanks Coley, I know you are mate and appreciate you up voting us. I try to find the right balance and include some nice specialty coffees without charging an arm and a leg.

This one has to be a bit more expensive but I will offer some cheaper ones.

  • Unless you owned a coffee shop it would be near impossible to get through this much coffee before the beans turned stale.

In saying that they would make nice gifts. Any chance of smaller amounts for personal use?

    • Cant you put them in the freezer?

      • +1

Its supposedly a crime against humanity - or at least coffee - to do so, but I put mine in the freezer last time, and the last bag was just fine (after about 9 weeks in the freezer). I taped over the valves before freezing, since supposedly the freezing can cause them to suck air in.

This time, I think I will A/B it, and keep one bag in a cool, dry place, to see how it goes.

      • Generally speaking i would not use beans older than 1 month from roast date. After that i find they do not pour and extract as much and tend to blonde quicker with no crema.
I would consider myself a little snobby with coffee though. I would never put beans in the frezer and would discard ground coffee if it was not used within 5 min of grinding.
I believe fresh really does make a big difference.

    • I guess it depends on how much coffee you drink :-) I get through about 2kg in about 7 weeks. And I've cut down and I'm trying to cut down more.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I just bought the 4x sample last week!

  • Thanks!

  • Was down to my last bag so placed an order to tie me over Xmas/NY's
