RESOLVED Will my plan work with gift cards?

Hello guys :)

I am planning to use the 7.5% discount on BigW e-giftcards via entertainment book to purchase a macbook from Myer or Jbhifi (whichever can give me 10% off).

I am just wondering (since BigW only stocks - afaik - giftcards up to value of $100) if the cashier at Myer or JbHifi will accept 10 $100 giftcards as part of ONE transaction? Ie. I am trying to purchase a $1,079 Macbook air. I asked Jbhifi - they said they allow stacking giftcards but just wondering if they will accept purchases of $1,000 with 10 giftcards? Has anyone tried this?

Has anyone tried this - ie. using BigW e-giftcards to buy other giftcards?

Yes, I am desperate to save the 7.5% haha.

Cheers.

    Gift card = cash.

You can use 100x $10 if you want.

When I worked at David Jones, I once scanned about 200 $1000 gift cards for a customer buying about 300 iPads (manager's orders). It was good for me too because I got some decent commission from it. Don't think the manager was aware at the time that I'd pocket $2000 from it but who was I to mention that at that stage?

What I'm trying to say is.. yes you can use a minuscule 10 gift cards.

While I haven't personally tried it before on such a large purchase, I have done it for smaller purchases like using several gift cards on a dress. I don't think you'll have any problems.

  • Yes it works.

Keep in mind that Officeworks offers a 5% price beat so if you are able to acquire gift cards for them at a discount, you may be able to save a tiny bit more.

    • Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I am relying on the 7.5% Bigw E-giftcard and since I can't buy Officeworks giftcards at Bigw or any Woolies store, I will have to stick with JB :)

officeworks doesn't count vouchers used to make a price cheaper. must be advertised price

  • I bought a $200 myer voucher the other day using big w gift cards, why don'tu buy tthe largest card you can, instead of 10 x $100?

  • Will be no problem, I recently did the same thing with more gift cards ;)
