Problems using Woolworth discount offers

I have huge problems getting Woolies discounts.
- Physical discount vouchers (printed copies from mail / shopping docket vouchers) not accepted at the till
- various weekly discount offers via emails (despite having offer activated and re-activated several times) still not come up at the till
- Gift cards not issued ( I am still waiting for 2 x $30 gift card from the Nov spend $50 for 3 weeks and get $30 gift card promotion)

From past experience, I know I can get the promised rewards if I am persistent enough and diligent enough to keep all shopping dockets and email offer copies. My household has six Everyday Reward cards in total. And I have been given the honourable job of chasing missing rewards most of the time. I am really sick and tired of having to email /live chat/ phone Woolworth's ERC department roughly every second week.

I just wonder anyone else has similar experiences or just my household is being cursed!

  • I got the gift card last week (around Thursday/Friday) for the nov spend

  • Ditto. Got the gift card last Friday. Never had any issues with discounts/offers.

  • I've actually always had a pretty good experience at Woolies and Coles but I'm not all that experienced with it.

But it's seems to me they have a vested interest in behaving like your describing to lure people with the discounts and then making it as hard as possible to redeem because it's all money in their pocket if you "choose" to let it slide.

If it was happening to me I would either make a decision about whether it's worth it and try to not take discounts into account (you most likely cannot do this as it is automatic with no awareness but you cannot say for sure) or start documenting the hurdles that are being created and threaten to report them and if behaviour doesn't change absolutely take your documentation and report them.

  • I've had issues
Activate $15 offer never happened, called them and they said gift card on its way, a week later I get the replacement rewards card I ordered a mth later called again and they said they could see that a gift card was offered to me and I would have it shortly.

A month later still haven't got it.

  • I've never had a problem with physical vouchers, but I do with the online ones. They don't work when activated. Or I spend $150/week for 3 weeks as per the terms and conditions and the gift card never arrives. They seem to require a phone call to resolve anything and that is really hard to accomplish where I work.

I've never had any issues getting the gift cards, using them, getting the promised promotions etc. it all seems fully automated to me.

Given you have 6 EDR cards, is it possible your household is getting confused as to which card has which offer, and using the wrong cards at the till and not getting ur expected reward? Six seems a lot, and nightmare to manage.

    • We have six adults in the family and one EDR per member.Because I am working from home, they all think I am having unlimited spare time/ break to chase the missing rewards for them.
After I threatened to resign from my position of "honourable reward chaser", my family members are all very diligent to keep shopping dockets/ offer emails in case I need them to support any claims with Woolies. So far, I have 100% successful rate .But just wonder whether it is worth continuing ???

      • Lol, we have just one card shared amongst everyone in the family.

The benefit of that is the fuel vouchers closest to expiry always getsused first .
We had a string of vouchers expire coz theperson wwith the card didn't need it, and and someone else needing to fill up but had no voucher.

So I ordered multiples of the one card, so we never waste a petrol voucher.

        • As far as I understand, fuel vouchers are shared amoungst all linked cards but each card gets its own offers/ rewards/ QFF pts.

        • @Love a bargain:

          Didn't know that, thanks!

        • @cloudy:
You must get on the web site and link the cards. My wife does the spending on her card and I buy the fuel on my card.

  • Love a bargain is right. Each person need to have their own EDR card to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points

We have four cards. One for each for both of us and one for each dog. We don't have any trouble getting the rewards. The vouchers printout as expected or the cards are delivered by post usually before the nominated date.

The problem I do have is that there are too many Woolies EDR emails with junk offerings or impossible (for us) targets to get a reward. I delete many of the offers with minimal consideration.

    • Never thought about getting for the dogs as well - but now Jake (Great Dane x) & Paddy (you name the breed & it's in him somewhere)will be posted their own personal cards to visit woollies & sniff, wee & poo around their way around the store to their hearts content! Staff awareness- have mops & buckets to the ready !!

  • I manage the 4 cards in our household. We occasionally have a problem but not very often. I usually use the "contact us" system to chase anything up but only have to do this a couple of times a year.

I recently chased some points from Week 1 of the current coupon promotion. The response I got is that EDR are classing the whole 6 weeks of the coupons as one promotion and won't pay any bonus points until 1 week after week 6 ends.

What do you mean by,"Physical discount vouchers (printed copies from mail / shopping docket vouchers) not accepted at the till". If you have a discount coupon the amount will be deducted at checkout and show on the receipt as an Everyday Rewards saving, provided you have met the conditions for all the coupons you have scanned. Points coupons or points offers never show on the receipt but are usually added to the account about 2 weeks later.

  • Same here OP
If i dont call i never see the giftcards.
Codes online or in store, "linked" to my EDR say "you are not eligible" although when i call them they do agree that i am and they will investigate the matter further…. Which for at least 3 months and multiple phone calls and emails, has new been resolved.
(Codes from the booklette, addressed to me, stating "just for you" and quoting my EDR on every page and subsequently emailed to me as a reminder because i still can't use them)

    So my workaround;
Only buy 50% items from Woolworth's.
    Only buy pricing error products.
If an Ozbargain deal comes up with a way to exploit the code sytem then go shopping.
    Then go to coles.

  • It happened to me a few times (5+ times) before when I redeemed my physical vouchers (the ones come with promotion mails or vouchers attached at bottom of qualifying shopping dockets),they came up as "invalid" on the screen. After a fair bit of explaining and a few phone calls to the EDR consumer service centre, they always give me discount manually using the code "General Refund" But the time wasted(10+ minutes) and embarrassment suffered (there were long queue behind) are totally unjustified.
