Moto G 2nd Gen or iPhone 5C?

Hi all,

My current phone is on it's last legs and I am wondering which one of these would be the better pick, Moto G 2 is $249 at Officeworks or the iPhone 5C for $399.

I am just trying to justify if it's worth spending more for the iPhone, I only really want a half decent camera and I only use a small amount of apps.
I don't mind the Moto G having less pixel density, I just want value for money being a full time student and all.

Has anyone got either phone and can comment on reliability or have any other phone recommendations around the $250-350 price range?

  • if you want nicer phone then buy iphone 5c (moto G is not bad mind you)…if you want cheaper phone then buy moto G….I bought a asus zenfone 5 4g for wife…couldnt be happier with the choice…cost me $250 delivered but has 2GB ram and quad core processor…nice screen and asus's inbuilt apps are a breeze…loving it so far…just my personal opinion…

  • i was loking at moto g 2nd gen but then bougt nexus 4 for $156. The screen and build is much better than moto g. SO maybe just keep checking ozbargain and wait for a deal on the N4 or the Moto G 2nd gen. I feel iphone is slightly overpriced for what it is…PS you could also wait for a deal on the Nexus 5 which is better than all of the mentioned phones….should be able to be had for $350 delivered some time this year if you are lucky!

  • +1

Zenfone 5 LTE is a good pick.

What about the Xiaomi Note LTE? It's only $164 USD or there abouts.

Will definitely kick the Moto G's arse when it comes to value and photo quality.

You could also look into the older flagship phones. E.g Xperia Z2, Lg G2, Samsung S4, most of which would fall in the $350 price range.

  • I've actually got both of these (well, the 1st gen Moto G but it's almost identical). Going by what you've said I'd recommend the MotoG.

Disregarding the ecosystems the main difference is the screen width. They both feel good in the hand and build quality is solid for both.
