Procedure for terminating broadband?

Hi guys,

I am only 18 and haven't done these things before. If I want to terminate my TPG broadband (not under a contract) and Telstra home phone (also, not under a contract), what do I have to do? Do I just call up their call centre?

If I do, what kinds of documentations do I need? My credit card details? And how much notice do I need to give them - ie. do they just cancel the plan straight away? Will they need to come to my house?

Does it get more complicated with the Telstra home plan as well?

If anyone is curious, I am looking to switch carriers due to cheaper price - do ISPs price match? Ie. Will TPG likely match Optus's $90 plan (broadband + home phone?).

Cheers - newbie here :)

  • If you want to just change telcos (bb & phone) just apply to your new Telco and they take it from there.
This will help you find your new deal…

  • +1

As xywolap has said, head over to http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/ and you can see that TPG ADSL2+ Unlimited Homephone bundle is the most popular (look up Popular Plans at the right side) among Whirpool users. It only costs 60$ per month and includes home phone.

  • Im guessing its not your connection because its illegal for someone under 18yo to enter into a contract.

Only the account holder will be able to cancel the connection. ID will be verified.

    • Yeah, I just called TPG, my current ISP, and they said the account holder (my sister who's been overseas for 2 years without contact!!) needs to do it.

Wtf, doesn't that mean we are practically tied with TPG because she's not in contact with us?

Also, if I just signed up to the Optus plan - will Optus take care of everything (without my sister) or does the account holder still needs to authorise the closing of the TPG account?

      • Email from the contact email which is on file should suffice.
