Best Value Tablet?

Hoping some people here out on OzBargain can let me know what the best tablet is for value, in terms of Sheet Specs / Performance, as well as the general experience of using it.

Either Windows 8/8.1 or Android 4+ is desirable.

Budget is: $215 AUD (Item is also preferably Australian Stock for Warranty Reasons)
Although budget is $215, the lower, the better. Not required to be High Class Brand.

Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for a decent brand, well at least known brand, Windows 8 tablet, Refurbished Dell Venue 8 Pro is $230 USD with Office.
I am not sure whether it is decent enough value for you though.
If it was personally up to me, I'd stick with decent brand, servicing and updates usually are better with decent brands.

This being said, the Chinese tablets are much cheaper with similar option. (Less RAM though)

These are the reasonably valued ones that I can think of at the moment on Windows 8 tablet side.

EDIT: I have accidentally went through the US Dell Outlet, which probably means that the Dell Tablet are way more expensive here… Sorry :(

  • If you are going to buy a Windows 8.1 tablet, you should aim for at least 8" size. Preferably 10 inches actually.

Desktop mode W8 on 7" display is not very usable.

    • Actually, yeah, that sounds legitimate.
My brother had a Vivotab Note 8, and everything was fairly small…

  • I found an Acer Iconia Windows tab for $265 delivered.

  • What size do you want?
    Recommend 8" - 10".
Was out looking at some today, JB/GoodGuys/DSE/Officeworks. Officeworks seemed to have the best prices for the quality brands.

    • Don't mind from 7" - 10". Anything larger or smaller is probably not worth looking at. I need a pure tablet.

        • Will the 1GB RAM be an issue? I've used a MeMo Pad 7" before, and it has massive laggs when trying to keep more than 3 apps open.

      • If you want good advice, setting specs rather than usage requirements won't necessarily mean you get advice that will help you enjoy your tablet.

e.g. what is a pure tablet, because Windows8 isn't pure tablet, its a hybrid.

(Not criticising the Windows 8 choice, just your requirement definition)

        • Dual (4 Thread) / Quad Core CPU
          Windows 8/8.1 OR Android 4+
          2GB RAM
          Resolution Minimum = 1280 x 720

          Camera = Don't Care

          WiFi ONLY.

Can run Clash of Clans smoothly (Y)

Don't mind from 7"-10". Anything larger or smaller is probably not worth looking at.

Call me simple DAO, but I can't tell what you actually mean by that…

Smaller that 7" and for me it's a phone, and bigger than 10" it's essentially a laptop… or is that actually what you meant? The boundaries are so blurry these days, sheesh… someone transport me back to the early 1990s, when things were so much simpler…

    • when things were so much simpler…

But apart from a Sinclair far more than $200

    • That's literally what I mean. If it's smaller, it's no longer a tablet, and if it's larger, it too is no longer is a tablet. But some people consider 11.5" still a tablet, but i'm desiring a tablet between 7" - 10".

AMEX or 28degrees to make it cheaper

    • 1GB DDR3L RAM is nowhere near sufficient for Windows 8.1, personally.

  • Acer Iconia one 7 is a good budget tablet. Has a Hd screen and dual core processor. Think it is around $150.

    • There was an Iconia One 7inch (the cheap one, I think there're a few models) during a recent Harvey Norman sale for about $78. :) Picked it up then.

  • Look at 2nd hand Nexus 7 (2013) - I bought mine ages ago for $150 off what (very lucky). Though generally they are around $200 or so I believe.
