KOGAN - Am I Being Scammed ?

Went to the KOGAN website today to take advantage of the 'Free Shipping on LED TV's' EDM that was sent this afternoon.

Went through the process to buy the 'Kogan 28" LED TV (Full HD) & DVD Player Combo' advertised for $189.00

Got to the checkout and noticed that the shipping was still being applied, so started a Live Chat with CASS.

I was informed that the LED TV I wanted to purchase was not on the free shipping list… I challenged this as the TV I wanted was in fact an LED TV, and was available to ship within 1 - 2 days… Meeting all of the EDM criteria - I thought…

Well, I was online for over 20 minutes and was finally told, after I insisted, that my call was going to be escalated to 'The Senior Team', and that I will be contacted before 7:00pm.

Great I thought - But…

When I go and look at the item in my cart now, it states that it is for presale only, not available for shipping until December 29th ! ! !

I can tell you that this was not the case when I first added the item to my cart, as it was a Christmas Gift and 'NEEDED' to ship in time for delivery before next week. It specifically said 'Will ship within 1-2 days'.

Has this ever happened to anyone else before ?

Am I being setup here ?

      I'd consider it a bit suss if they've reneged. Bait and switch is one of the oldest scams there is.

      So definition suits.

        If the page was still advertising it as free shipping and not a pre-sale item, then yes a bait and switch. But corrections has been made and OP was informed before handing over money. So imo, it was a mistake rather than an Kogan intentionally trying to scam OP.

          Fair enough. Their weasel words and excluding some LED TVs just isn't the best of customer service, especially when they aim for 99% on eBay and like to brag about how they're innovative and better than the rest etc.

    EDM? Early Delivery Method.

    Electronic Direct Marketing.

    Kogan rebadge generic stuff that are available on eBay for much less, so I don't like them, therefore stopped listening to their promos. So forgive my ignorance on this new EDM term.

    Stay away from this company - their products are never as promised & their customer service back up is full of promises with no intent. There are far better legitimate companies around who will provide the item you want @ a reasonable price without the disappointment upon receival.
