New Wii U pad possibly leaked. -Don't buy the old one!!-

Nothing's worse than buying new tech only for it to be obsolete straight afterwards.
A new Wii U game pad was sort of revealed recently.
Read about it here or just google it. http://wiiudaily.com/2014/12/redesigned-wii-u-gamepad-reveal…

The game pad comes with the console so if you got an old one you can't really replace it.
Apparently the 3DS XL was leaked in the same way as this.
I wouldn't be surprised it it's real, especially given Nintendo's struggle with making the system appealing.

That video is six months old. Nothing to see here, it's just some misrepresentation.

  • Even from the article, it looks like they have used a smaller Wii U gamepad, either as a possible new controller (which Nintendo did mention that the Wii U could support 2 gamepads a while back) or as a replacement to the existing gamepad packaged with the console. It also could have been a film technique to specifically focus on the dual screens, but it's all speculation.

The possible outcomes from this would be one of the following -
    1) New design has better battery life, more comfortable and larger screen
1 a) This comes packaged with either a new designed Wii U console (hopefully with larger internal storage) or just replaces the gamepad in the existing console (no changes)
1 b) Controller sold separately as second gamepad is utilised in future games

    or

    2) Doesn't release, was used to make a point in the advert, nothing changes

In both these cases, the existing gamepad will still be sold in existing consoles, there will not be any functional differences between existing and "new", where the "Don't buy the old one" statement is really redundant. I wouldn't not buy a Wii U over something like this, especially with Cake's comment of it being 6 months old. If you are constantly waiting for the next thing to be released, you may be waiting a while…

  • Remember the Nintendo Fusion? Yes, you know the one I mean. The "Don't buy the Wii-U because Nintendo are bringing out a handheld-console-fusion device with better stats than the xbone and ps4 combined" that actually managed to convince some people and hurt the Wii-U sales because "Why buy a Wii-U if Nintendo is replacing it soon?".

What I'm saying, is don't let 'leaks' inform your decisions. Unless they're leaks of Dark Pit and Doctor Mario, then you should let those decisions inform you not to buy Super Smash Brothers (y u do dis sakurai?)

  • Yeah it was just bad editing apparently to try make it look smaller
