It's in stock so you should be able to receive it in time for Christmas, but maybe check with them first. If you don't want to take the risk you can pay an extra $2 and pick it up from HN/JB/DSE. Or just get them to match it.

This is the cheapest this bundle has been so far (without a coupon). Get the X3 for yourself and give the X2 away as a Christmas present. Or give both of them away.

The Sony SRS-X3 sounds pretty decent. Decent lows, mids, and highs from what I could (just about) hear at JB.
The X2 is quite lacking in lows, but is clear. They both have built-in mics so you can use them as a large speakerphone.

NFC pairing works great. Just tap your phone on top and it pairs.

The SRS-X2 is being sold for $98 at JB:

Cheapest ever? I got a couple weeks ago for $145 with the discount code.

    • Oh yes. Cheapest without time-limited discount code would be more accurate.

  • Srs x3 has lack of bass. Not worth at these price. I'll suggest try avoid this.

    • Bass sounded pretty decent to me. What else would you suggest that has more (unbloated) bass at this price, with an extra speaker?

      • SRS-X5 is only 208 at the good guys, for so much extra bass its worth the extra 40 bucks.
Useless to mention this but X5 was on sale at Myer a week ago for 199 when I bought one (with extra X2 too). If it's for your own ears it's definitely worth going up a grade.

        • Hmm, it's not as portable as it's larger, but it would have more bass. Definitely worth considering too if it's for your own ears as you say.

I had a listen to the new Bose SoundLink Colour. Sounded just ok. The lows weren't very well-rounded.

The Monster Superstar was quite disappointing for its $179 price. Puny lows. "The world's smallest audiophile speaker" indeed! Looks like they spent more on marketing than development!

  • $139.99 at Costco Ringwood for the bundle (huge stack on left wall at the entrance)

  • Same at Costco auburn

  • Listening to the x3 now. Like any of these small speakers, under 60% volume they hold up well. I would get this over the Bose. I have both
    Battery life is great

    • Is this better than Bose Soundlink Mini?

      • IMHO:

        The Bose SoundLink Mini
        - has better lows. Very nice. But could do better with highs.
        - can (probably) be turned up louder
        - feels nicer (aluminium)
        - has a dock, makes it easy to charge at home
        - requires its own charger
        - the Bose name makes it a nice present, if your recipient cares about that

        The X3:
        - has better highs, decent lows
        - has NFC pairing, very convenient
        - has a mic, so can also function as a speakerphone
        - micro USB charging

        • I really like the Bose Mini as it is really nice, but I don't wants to spend another $249 as I already have a Samsung Home Theatre Systems, will wait for price to drop below $200 before biting. Sony X3 don't get me excited.

  • Pick up bose for $205 from myer with their $15 off every $75 off the other day which is still on.

  • Just got the SRSX3 yesterday from BingLee and you cannot charge and play at the same time :( going to exchange it for the SRSX5

    • Hmm. what happens? When I was listening to it at JB yesterday, it was plugged in to the charger.

      • If you use it while it is plugged in to power, it will play but not charge (nor use up) the battery.

When you turn the speaker off, then the battery will start charging.

Another thing thing to note is that the x3 sounds the same whether it's running on battery or plugged in. The x2 has less bass when on battery. I have no experience with the x5.

        • I prefer to have it charging while plugged in though.

  • $165 at videopro, FREE Shipping. Has been this price since at least Thursday I believe.
