        • I know. I was replying to sym26's comment

        • @snagseb: There's a Gen 2 out

        • @sym26: ahh I see. What's the difference?

Who would spend that much to listen to video games. Seriously.

People who don't want to buy new Logitech ones every 6 months.

      • Yep I got these after my Logitech prematurely failed on me.

I generally like the headset and battery life is awsome. Only issue I have is the buttons on the headset are difficult to use while wearing being small and take away to the side. I use mine for voice comms (main audio out through PC speakers) and if the audio stream is cut it powers down after 30sec to save battery… this can sometimes happen between level loads and its fiddly to reach back and power it back on - no hard just fiddly.

    • Obviously you never used one. They are the best for gaming, period! People pay more for beats which don't sound half as good.

Not denying the sound quality, I'm saying I don't understand spending this much on sound for video games. Music yes, but video games…sorry just seems stupid. How good do you need your phew phew sounds to be.

        • Maybe I think your stupid for thinking you don't need to listen to video games in high quality, even though a game developer may have spent more on sound production then a movie or music producer?

It's all a matter of personal opinion isn't it?

        • @Coley:
'even though a game developer may have spent more on sound production then a movie or music producer'
Then experience it in true 5.1, not crappy headphones. Each to their own.

    • I could see my fiance spending that so she didn't have to listen to my games.

If anyone was looking at these for pc, may i suggest these videos for a potentially better headphones and mic for about the same price.

These videos persuaded me to buy an Audio Technica ATHAD500X and AT2020 instead.

Cool thing about Astro's is they are universal. Had mine since 2012 (A30's) and use for all consoles I have + PC.

Quality of product and quality of packaging is second to none.

      • yeah, sadly i cant use the 500X for consoles but Astro's are still amazing headphones

I use the (older) wired Astro mixamp (simultaneous ps4,xbox 360, pc and mp3) connected to the Sennheiser HD558's and a modmic.

      Also, razetheworld

        The HD558's look really nice!

        Razetheworld!

  • I bought a new pair during ebay's 20% off toy sale for $250 ish. Ended up returning them. Battery wouldn't charge.

I could only use it when plugged in. There was some hissing also.

But I was still able to get a feel for how it fits, and what the AQ is like. The AQ was nothing special, but I guess with gaming headsets that's what you come to expect. The fit for me (everyone's different) was not good. They were heavy and you couldn't adjust them by much if you have a long head. I just didn't find them comfortable at all.

I returned them and got a pair of headphones instead with bigger drivers. Couldn't be happier.

The other concern is that the battery is not user serviceable. Eventually when it goes out of warranty, you're going to be paying Astro a hefty sum to replace the battery (where are they exactly?) or buying a new pair, which are not cheap to begin with. In other words, it's made for planned obsolescence, Apple style.
