Mazda 3 2014 (end of year) Hatchback Automatic

Looking at getting 2014 hatchback automatic (entry level. I think its neo)

a. Does anyone know what is the price at moment in run out deals.

b. Is there any website or forumns where people list what they paid for car prices.

I hate buying car. Annoying thing is that its not transparent. So, not possible to work out what is fair price and how much I expect to pay.

Can't answer your first question but visit the whirlpool forums to find out what prices people paid for their car. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/133?g=261

  • Price at the start of this year for the runout old model '13 stock was ~$21,000. Since this new model just came out this year, prices will be around the $22000 to $23000 mark.
Always good to check Carsales.com.au to see what prices the Mazda 3's are fetching through dealers and private sellers.

    • Thanks. This is search I am after: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/results.aspx?silo=stock&vertical=car&q=((((((((SiloType%3d%5bBrand+new+cars+in+stock%5d%7cSiloType%3d%5bBrand+new+cars+available%5d)%7cSiloType%3d%5bDemo+and+near+new+cars%5d)%26(Make%7b%3d%7d%5bMazda%5d%7b%26%7dModel%7b%3d%7d%5b3%5d))%26State%7b%3d%7d%5bNew+South+Wales%5d)%26Service%3d%5bCarsales%5d)%26Price%3drange%5b20000..%5d)%26GenericGearType%7b%3d%7d%5bAutomatic%5d))%26(Year%3drange%5b2014..2014%5d)&WT.z_srchsrcx=makemodel&sortby=~Price

I am confused. Some have done 400km and they brand new. Are they all demo models or new cars?

      • You should be able to find the search field for brand new. I don't think the dealers will start discounting heavily until the start of next year. 400km is a demonstrator but theres nothing wrong with a demo if you are saving a few thousand and its the right colour :)

        • You reckon they will be even cheaper in 2015 Jan?

  • They are definitely Demos

  • I might be a bit weird in this respect, but I wouldn't buy a demo unless it was significantly discounted or actually near new (as in the 400km stated).

When I have looked for several cars in the past the demo's listed as 400km (for example) usually end up with 4,000km on the clock by the time I view them (dealer says, oh we haven't updated that), they usually have swirl marks all over them from all the dealer car washes, the carpets and trim are usually worn from dealer "executives" who drive them home, chipped alloys, scrapes under sides of bumpers etc etc etc.

I guess it depends how much you love your car and how you intend to treat it once it gets home.

What sparked my interest in this post is my Mazda is getting serviced and they loaned me a demo Mazda3, it has 3,400km on the clock but already has a couple of small dents, swirl marks, marked hub caps and a few scratches internally on the plastics…. I certainly wouldn't consider it if I was shopping for a new car but wanted to save a couple of thousand. Its basically "used", but I am sure it will be sold as a "demo" as it's only a couple of months old.

NOTE: One oddity with this vehicle if you are considering buying one is that it has a "smart" key so you can just keep the key in your pocket / bag etc to start the car and push the start button - but STUPIDLY enough it doesn't have smart buttons on the door handles or boot so you still need to find the stupid remote and get it out of your pocket in order to open/unlock the door, then put it away and press the button to start the car - not sure if I have the poverty pack model, but this "feature" is infuriating. My clunky 4 year old CX-9 at least has the buttons on the door handles so you don't have to go fishing for the "smart key".

    • Yeah. I agree with you. I found the same when buying previous car. Was no point buying the demo to say fe bucks. They actually go through a lot. Also realised it when I did the test drive as well :). You dont care about the demo. You really thrash it. Definately looking for a brand new car. Hence wanted to confirm what that 500km meant.

    • I have the SP25 and it has the smart buttons on the door.

  • OK. So there is 21999 advertised price for neo automatic.

    A. How much do I expect to pay?

    B. I want following extras:
Rear view parking cam or sensors.

Not fused about others. How much would that be on top?

    • pretty sure rear view parking cam comes standard with all 3's

      • I had a look. Only with Maxx and above.

  • I got quoted just over 28,300 for Maxx Auto with Tint, Matts and just over 26,000 for Neo with Tint, Tint, Matts. Seems like a lot.

    • Honestly if you bothered reading off at least half the whirlpool mazda 3 price thread you'll know that you're being ripped off at those prices.

I don't want to spoon-feed you with the prices. (I've just recently bought one and did weeks to months of research on the pricing only because i wasn't desperate for the car) But you should check out each mazda dealers pages for specials and READ the whirlpool thread. That thread has valuable information and should give you an indication on what price you should pay.

Edit - carsales is also an important site to check out (which i think you already looked up)

      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1670038

      • Thanks. Yeah I know it's too high.
I'm keeping eye on whirlpool as well. It's not enough data. Only thing is that based on whirlpool it says I should be paying around $24500. That is 20% difference. So not sure sure.

        • Haha, now i feel like i was mean. So i'll give you a more straightforward answer you'd want. I am currently whirlpools "lowest" maxx auto holder. $24,300 tints, mats, weathershields and sunscreen. (Full tank is standard) Also including the current mazda offer. Free CTP etc. (But must admit it was an intense negotiation). I only went through 2 dealers.

$24,500 only the car has been achieve 1-2times. You really shouldn't be paying more then $25,000 for a maxx auto at this time of the year (including a few extras). Just stand firm on your price offering.

          Good luck!

        • @choasninja:

Thanks. Yeah that's what i am aiming for.
