I just picked up a used van. It needs 4 new tyres and new rear shocks.
For tyres I was looking at Maxxis UE-103 (215-65-R16) and got quoted $175 each (fitted) for a set of 4.
For rear suspension I was quoted $660 by Pedders.
I am just wondering if there are ever any "genuine" post christmas sales for either tyres or suspension? From my limited googling it seems like this stuff never goes on sale.
I am hoping that supercheap auto/repco etc.. have some sales where I can pick up floor mats, seat covers, etc..

Big franchises like Pedders are infamous for quoting work that doesn't need doing. Have you tried a local mechanic with a good reputation?
As for tyre sales, you can sometimes find 4 for the price of 3 from Goodyear, but I know K Mart Tyre and Auto price match on tyres. Jax prices seem pretty competitive as well.
Supercheap should have another 20% sale around boxing day from experience, otherwise repco have them all the time as well.
