Flights to Toronto via Honolulu in April 2015

Hi guys,

My girlfriend and I are looking to fly to Toronto in late April (one way, as we are staying for a couple of years). I was thinking we should book flights to Honolulu with Jetstar under their current specials (approx $350 one way ex Melb). Is it easy to get cheap flights from Honolulu to Toronto, or should I wait for some Melb-LAX specials?

Cheers,

Nostril

  • My wife has some ideas, but she thought since you were addressing the guy's you wouldn't want to hear them

However GUY, I persuaded her to hand them over. :)

    1. International flights are sold on a 12 month basis. So if you are going oneway (returning after 12 months) then waiting for flights to LAX won't work as these will be return and oneway with "regular" airlines are sometimes more expensive than round trip specials.

    2. Jetstar being "budget" carrier prices by segment so you can do the one way flight without paying extra as per "regular" airlines

    3. Excepting the extra special deals like the $900 Return AirNZ flights to LAX, flying Jetstar would be cheaper with their specials at the moment.

    4. As for HNL to Toronto, use Kayak or Expedia etc to check the flights, but flights direct to Canada can be more expensive than to US cities, and if there are no budget carriers flying from Honolulu, you might get cheaper flights to say Chicago, then pick up a flight to Toronto. For example WestJet have flights in March from $300US Via Vancouver.

She would research which budget carriers fly to Toronto, from which US cities and use those as a hub for a flight from Honolulu.

    • WestJet is Canada's main budget airline and they fly from HNL to Vancouver and Toronto.

Excellent service and price last time I flew HNL to Vancouver in July 2013.

    • Surely your wife has come across "guys" used as a collective noun for both sexes! Either way, I appreciate her help. Doing a bit of a Kayak search, I come up with AirCanada flights for $330 from Honolulu to Toronto via Vancouver. WestJet seem to have similar prices (US$295). So all up $650 one way Melb-Toronto. That seems like a pretty good deal right?

      • considering $1300 would be a pretty go flight deal return, I don't think you can beat $650 for a oneway flight

  • Check out CX (Cathay Pacific) they go via HKG direct to TOR.
