PS4 for $430?

I was looking on ebay for a ps4, and there is one listed for $430 but pick up only. I looked at the location and it is close to where i live. Do you guys reckon its worth buying it second hand? It dosnt specify if it has a warranty. Plus it comes with no games.

Spend $69 more and get this

    http://www.target.com.au/p/playstation-4-console-5-gb-drive-…

    Available in both colours

  • +4

I totally agree for the sake of a bit more you get a brand new console with games.

  • or wait for another sale and get it for same price NEW with games

  • +2

Where were you for the Dick Smith/eBay sale? <$400 with 3 games.

    • +6

for that 12 mins it was actually in stock?

      • +3

        10 minutes more than i needed :-)

Was available prior near this price before the ebay code activated. There'll be similar deals again. I wouldn't pay new price for SH item.

    • Just buy a bundle and sell the games, you could probably get the console for about $400. If you got the previous Dick Smith deal or HN GTA bundle you would've had one for less than $400.

i dont understand why they make them so expensive when they could get huge sale if they dropped the prices by $150

They want to move software, I think they'd rather add more games than discount the console itself

      • +1

software is cheap to manufacture (ie a bluray disk is cheap to manufacture) and can get discounted easily

        hardware is harder to discount

so they rather keep the hardware high price, but get the software bundle with it..

Also I think they have deals with those game companies..so it might not cost them much to bundle it

You call $400-450 expensive? the ps3 on release was 1k
The Graphics card for my pc cost 300 alone. quit being cheap.

        • Just buy a bundle, sell the games and you have a PS4 for $400…

        • +2

Trade in your PS3 (and all games/controllers) for the PS4 if you're so sick of it. Even an old PS3 and a few games should make the PS4 a lot more affordable.

Second hand and unknown warranty status makes it fairly risky, especially when there have been new bundles in recent months that cost less than $430

          @IceCreamBandit:

          not worth trading it in

          ebay will rip you off..

it is better to to sell ps3 + games on ebay

        • +3

The PS3 is still a good platform - a new console isn't fully worth it yet. Maybe you should spend more time studying than gaming.

I'm sick of my old Ford!
Why are Bugatti's cars so expensive??
They'd sell way more Veyrons if they sold them for five grand a pop!

          Get a grip, man.

    • +6

And imagine how many more they would sell if they were only $10. Crazy these Sony folks, dont want to sell their goods.

    • +9

you do realize it will be years before ps5 right? it's not like phones with new flagshp ever year

        • Wow now you're being childish in multiple post's on oz bargain.
Way to show us all how mature you are.

There's typically a 7 or 8 year gap between generations. Considering the PS4 just turned one, I wouldn't say it's worth holding out until 2020…

      • True, that's how it's been happening till now. Apparently, Sony may release the next PlayStation quicker this time, I think it's 3-4 years(still a long time), still no point in waiting.

        • if anything, its gonna be even Longer between releases.

        • @jaybmate:
          Really?

    • +3

You know it's only been a year since the PS4 came out, that's not long for a console.

      • my break point for both consoles is about $400

even the shitty xbox is fantastic buying for $400

i think the 360 and ps3 were both wildy expensive when they were 1 years old and they had a deep lack of games and were very unpolished

the xbox one still is very unpolished and for me both xbox one and ps4 have a certain "lack of gaems" but hey, for me $400 wasnt that big a deal so now i got both

        • -4

I know what you mean, I don't even game but money's no object so I got both and a 5k gaming pc. I might even buy another for the sake of it.

  • +11

Note that you have to buy PS+ subscription to play the PS4 online.

      • +15

Just have to say…you have quite the rude attitude. I would suggest you take your shit elsewhere

    • how come retailers don't have discount/sales on the PS+ subscription but they have 20% off xbox live?

    • +8

      That's shit

the ps3 was much better cos it had free online gaming

Does anyone know the trade value of a ps3 at eb gameS?

  • +1

I paid ~$430ish for a PS4 with a game from Dick Smith over 6 months ago. A second hand console isnt worth near that with the bundles on offer today.

Go for a brand new bundle for a bit more, or wait for the next standalone deal. if you dont care whether you get a PS4 or an xbox One, grab the Xbone from BigW for less then $400.

  • Target still have the cheapest at $499 with 3 crappy games. Harvey Norman have a PS4 no games for $497.

I'm considering one of the EB Games bundles as there's a better selection, plus more games.

    https://ebgames.com.au/featured/console-hardware/ps4

The first one has 3 games I'll keep (TLOU, GTAV, Watchdogs), and 2 I'll sell, so it's likely worth it for me.

I can't find anything better elsewhere. Disappointing boxing day sales are disappointing.

    • whats funny is that eb games were advertising those bundles all week prior to boxing day and now boxing day has arrived they have renamed the bundles under "boxing day sales" without actually reducing the price or adding more games. lmao.

  • Wait for a better bundle, I got the Harvey Norman GTAV + PS4 bundle for ~$450 and I sold GTA V, the PS4 by itself ended up being under $400. Also, there was a 3 games + PS4 bundle for DSE earlier, that was a really good one. Wait for a better bundle and keep an eye on OzBargain.

You've got to stop bumping this. 3-4 bumps within 5 hours?

If you're that desperate for a cheap PS4 deal, research it yourself using Google and the major retailers' websites.

Most of the available deals I believe have already been brought up, and if they aren't cheap enough then that's just unfortunate. Either save up until you can afford it or buy it now and make sacrifices elsewhere.

We can't help you if your only contribution to the discussion is an hourly bump or rude comments to people who are trying to help.

    • I think bargainguy22 needs to learn to swim at the shallow end of the pool before jumping into the deep…

I think its about time to close this thread as he is just being an arse now. It's not that hard to do a bit of research and say 'please' and 'thank you' now and then.

    • you can report the thread if you want it closed.

      • Yep good call. Reported.

  • yeah worth getting a new one for the warranty. the PS4 has some hardware issues besides the Target deal being better value.

    • what hardware issue?

      • I've seen alot of reports on Eb Games' facebook of the disc drive not accepting discs, it just ejects them instead of reading them.

        • do u have the source link where this issue occurs?

the only problem I know of is this :

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC-XbRgfOT8

guess it is best to wait till later revisions

shit like this happen with first gen/first versions

          like xbox360 overheating

  • Instead of asking the community, OP can easily search OzBargain for PS4 related deals and I believe the community has given enough suggestions already.
