Should I be concern about non-removable battery?

Dear Ozbargainers, should i be concern about non-removable battery of Lg g2? Reading about the battery life of G2 I see very very good feedback but any concerns about it being non removable?

  • phones are so cheap these days, by the time you need a new battery you could probably just buy a new one. It's also a pain to replace a small battery, i found that out when trying to replace the batter in my old ipod nano 4th

  • If you are like those people who uses batteries like crazy and want to have a backup battery, probably.
Also, if your battery needs replacement, you'd need to send them to service centres, probably. For warranty issues and it being slightly too much of a hassle in my opinion , if you are fine with breaking your warranty and is skilled enough, you'd probably be able to replace it by yourself.

But even then, there are those battery packs like Xiaomi ones that you can carry around. I'd invest on one of those, if you move around and need that extra juice. (This being said, I've heard good things about G2's battery life, so I don't know, would you need one?)

Or you could try to get the Korean version which has both microSD card support and removable battery.

  • The LG G2 battery is replaceable, if you are brave enough to open up the phone. The back cover is removable — start by removing the SIM tray and then use a plastic seperation (spudger) to open up the back cover without damage.

You will then need to remove some flex cables to get to the battery.

If too much fuss, I'd just buy the Korean version. But there is a trade-off.

The Korean LG G2 variant has a removable back cover, behind which are situated its user-replaceable battery and its microSD card slot for storage expansion. However, several trade-offs have been made in order to allow these features to be available. First of all, its battery has a capacity of 2610mAh versus the 3000mAh cell found inside the US-bound LG G2. In addition, the LG G2 sold in Korea will be thicker, albeit only by a quarter of a millimeter.

Still the Korean G2 IMO is superior to the International version, esp. when you consider there is SD card expansion for you to actually store your recorded 60 fps videos on.

  • I've popped the back cover on a few g2s it's not that hard. I'm sure one of the phone shops would replace it for cheap when the battery is not holding charge. The battery should be good for around 2 years before a noticeable deterioration in charge

  • Thanks guys. This makes me think to buy LG G3 16GB ( in same price range) then. Worth going for it? What do you think?
