Looking to update our modem/router. Our house is quite large, two storeys, with internal brick walls, so strong WiFi signal is a must. Also needs no less than 4 ethernet ports.

If you are already on Wifi N, updating to the latest fancy shmancy AC wireless standard will not improve wifi range.
Therefore, you are looking at other methods of extending your wifi network — this could be a repeater, another router in bridge mode or a EoP networking kit.
