Here is the description from the book page …

Have you just booked your first cruise holiday or planning to have one soon? Are you feeling just a tad uncertain about what lies ahead and also how to make sure that your cruise vacation is smooth sailing (pardon the pun!) ?

If this is the case, then this collection of tips from my own personal cruise experiences will certainly help!

I have written this book specifically to help first time cruisers like you have an enjoyable and stress free cruise holiday.
Don’t be fooled by the apparent shortness of this book. I have stripped away all the fluff and I have no doubt you will find this book of immense value!
I have organised the tips in logical sections that cover all areas of your cruise holiday: Pre-holiday planning and packing, Pre-departure and embarkation day, On the ship, Ports of call and shore excursions and Disembarkation.

    Nice idea….. Some comments:

20% of the way through, and most tips so far seem to be "talk to a travel agent". I accept this is not a bad idea, but I would have hoped there would be at least some suggestions - eg under the best times to take a cruise, it wouldn't be that hard to have a small table with good/best date ranges to go to the most popular locations such as Hawaii or the Pacific etc.

Just reached the bit about travel insurance - again here is a comment about how you should contact a travel agent…. The bit that reads "the most common question I get asked.." Is your friend a travel agent? Just wondering. The disclaimer does not mention it. If they are, probably worth noting that - it could even be a bonus as it shows they have insider knowledge.

A few grammatical errors eg "the water don't stay hot for long". This is fine if the hints were part of a blog post, but as an ebook you may want to charge money for I'd suggest having someone with editorial experience check it out.

Things to bring - would add medicines, sun cream. CB radio is a nice idea, but be aware that unless you get a VERY powerful one it is unlikely to have a huge range on the boat due to the amount of metal they are made from!

Cruise card - would recommend putting cash on the kids cards. I've seen kids in the arcade racking up what must be huge bills on those things, so having it linked to your credit card could be a bad move

Airport transfer - actually works out cheaper for us as a larger family. If you are part of a larger group, unless you get very lucky and manage to score a maxi cab, you may need to take two taxis to carry all the passengers and luggage. Having the luggage taken out for us, and going to the bus was very convenient too - worth the small premium if any.

Overall not bad, but needs more content to take it beyond what is effectively a blog post in ebook format, to something with sufficient value to make people happy to pay a dollar for…..

Great feedback and especially for the effort it took to compile your notes ! I'll definitely pass them on. It's his first Ebook so lots to learn,

By the way, he's not a travel agent or associated with any travel agencies. Just a cruise addict who has taken tons of cruises and thought about sharing his tips. He felt the other eBooks in the store were too high level.

  • Passing on a small message. :)
