Linksys Network Media Hub with 500GB HDD (NMH405) - Was $399, Now $299 from HT!

80

[EDIT] I blinked and the price dropped to $299. It WAS $399, I swear!!
{RE-EDIT] Strange…the first edit dissapeared and reverted it back to the original post again…redone it now.

Was surfing around for a NAS and saw this at the ht website. Great price for a gigabit NAS and you can still install another hard drive into the unit on top of the 500GB installed.

CNet didn't quite like it, but you can make up your own mind. The reviews from journalist websites:

  • There are several sites on staticice http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Linksys+Net… that have this cheaper.

Edit: sorry there is an LCD/non LCD version. Still, there is one site that has it cheaper: http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=NMH405&spos…

Edit again, wow, $299 is cheap!

  • Mate i think you got the price wrong - I just noticed it is $299

    Wicked bargain

    • Title needs to be altered.. says it's $399

    • it WAS $399 before…I think…

Yes it was, I was looking on the HT website a bit before you posted this and it was there at $399 in the networking specials! You're not going crazy, but the deal serendipitously got better, which is a good thing! :)

        • THANK YOU Stewballs! I'm not going crazy after all, no matter what the voices are saying!!

why not just build your own nas? I reckon i could build a 1TB NAS for that price. Still good deal for shelf NAS system

Listed price on the site is $299. You'd be struggling to make something that size (physical dimensions) anywhere near that price.

Cause having a big computer case and filling it with drives is not comparable to a small, book sized NAS.

Not to mention the power it draws…that's why having a NAS makes more sense than having a PC running 24x7…unless you plan on putting in a TV Tuner card and making it into a HTPC instead…
