PCI Tuners for TV on laptop

Hi I have a question for those who are more in the know about technology (which seems to be the case with a lot of ppl here.

I have a laptop and want to play TV on it.
I know I will not get good reception with the aerial they supply with most TV tuners and plan to use my roof antenna anyway.

I have seen the below post which was popular here, but it is only for desktops:

So, my question really is:

Can PCI tuners be used on laptops at all?

The ASUS PCI MYC-P1731 is down to $25 @ MSY now.

Otherwise I might get the Leadtek DTV1000S from MSY @ $36.

Hi Mick, PCI tuners can only be used in Desktop PCs as the laptops do not have a PCI slot.

For a laptop you want a USB tuner.

    • thanks mate for the info :)

Actually most new laptops have pci express , totally different from pci in a pc (physically)

Please note there is 2 sizes of pci express card i think (54 & 34)

good deal is to get the Kaiser Baas Dual high def express card i got one delivered from ebay for $15 total works very well on a netbook even.

I get good reception in a low reception area and there is 2 aerial supplied if it is a dual tuner

  • i have a PCI express TV tuner in my laptop.

Go for DVB-T if you want Hd signal
