I visited Bing Lee randomly today (after checking out TGG for that sold out 48" Sony Smart LCD TV) and was surprised to see this deal in their catalogue and even more so that it hasn't been posted here. I asked for the remote and played around with the menus. I can say that the menu system is easier and better looking than the 50" TCL from HN which I have. As for picture quality, DTV is essentially the same, they both have that "100Hz" EMR crap that doesn't really make much difference to the smoothness but you can tweak with the colours more than the TCL (unless you use the service menu on the TCL). You can also adjust the transparency and timeout of the menus on the Changhong where as on the TCL you cannot. The sound quality is also essentially the same ie lacking. The quality of a 720p 50fps high bitrate mkv rip from my usb key was really good (just as it was on the TCL). It has 3x HDMI inputs (1 more than the TCL) and optical digital audio out (which I prefer to the TCL's coaxial, pretty sure it won't have ARC too). 3 year warranty as with TCL. It's $545 @ 2nds World

Anyways here are the specs taken from Changhong's product page:

  • Dupe.

    • Where?

Edit: Oh here in a combined post.. well let's see what the mods say. Thought it was worthy of a separate post since we've had a couple of cheap 48/50" cheapies of late and people might not check the other deals in the combined post that aren't in the title.

  • Picked this one up a year or so ago and haven't looked back

Very happy but paired it with a pvr as the menus sucked.

  • Can anyone confirm if there's an ARC on this TV?

      Highly doubt it..

Just to follow up on this, I emailed Changhong for the manual and there is no mention of it in there.

Here is the manual in pdf that you can check out for yourself (there's no valid link to it on their website)

        Thanks for the research!

  • I contacted the servicemen from Changhong and confirmed that this TV has the basic feature of watching TV so it doesn't have the ARC feature. They told me their smart TV will have this feature in 2015. Anyway, it is worthy of the dollars at this price.
