If you don't have another iOS device to use the "Find My iPhone" app, just go to http://www.icloud.com/#find and login using your son's Apple iD. Full instructions here

  • unfortunately I do not have sons Apple iD? and am on a Samsung so can I do it without the iD?

Ask your son? He lost the phone after all…

You should be able to access the iCloud site with any device but you won't get anywhere without your son's Apple ID login.

  • Ok thanks, he is with his father atm, so will have to wait till he gets home. thanks for your help

If my experience with lost phones is anything to go by usually it's fallen down the side of the bed and will be found there, or under it.

  • If you've lost it within your own house then findmyphone won't help. It can only give you an approximate location, less accurate indoors too. It's only useful for when you actually don't know where it is at all and need to narrow it down to an area in the world.

But you press the noisy alarm button thingy and you'll hear the super loud sound.

Think it flashes also, but can't remember.

  • My son often loses his phone too. Been lucky as we have always found it in his room or his car. I always suggest not leaving it on silent so we can just call it. No help if the battery has run out though.

    Have you tried ringing it?

    • ^^^^ This.

    • What if it's on silent or off?

      Use the findmyphone feature.

  • Apparently you can retrieve the ID number from a Genius bar in the stores, if you show proof of purchase and ID etc.

    • Not true I'm afraid. They can only tell you the first character of the ID and the type of email address it is eg @hotmail @gmail etc.

      • That'll suffice. Then check the registration confirmation in that email.

Sometimes when you remember/save IDs in forms on a browser you just type that first character and the rest pops up.

But no use to them as they haven't heard of it or used it before.
