  • Great price on the E-M1 - too bad there's no cash back for the bodies going right now.
Brilliant high-end mirrorless camera for anyone considering one.
Competitive with Canon 7dII and Nikon d7100.

    Recommend either going for:
    "Big zooms, big coverage" - 12-40mm f2.8 + 75-300mm for insane 24mm-600mm coverage or
    "Small, quality primes" - 12mm f2.0/Pana 14mm f2.5 + 25mm + 45mm (+75mm if you can stretch it!)

Perfect if you love the control of a dslr but not the bulk. I moved from d90 to E-M1 and loved it. I actually take it out shooting now! Perfect for candid photography at parties, Christmas, street shooting where no one wants a giant full-frame Bazooka in their face.

    • Exactly what I did :) sold my d90 and "upgraded" to em1 pro kit and haven't loooked back since. 12-40 pro lens is amazingly sharp and love the manual customisations available on body. A bit daunting at first but quite a smooth transition coming from the d90.

  • Wow fuji X-E2 price is goooood.

  • Similar pricing on Digidirect for Olympus…good prices though. Wish we could have some more discounts on Olympus!

  • Price on Fuji 23mm is $917, not $817. Can you please update?

  • Very good price for Canon 16-35 F4.
Especially if you can claim TRS and $200 cashback (if purchased along with a camera e.g. Canon 6D).

  • I die a little inside every time this E-M1 deal pops up, having paid ~$1300 for a body not so long ago.

    I mean the 12-40 kit isn't just a good deal. It's actually so good it's ridiculous…

    • Me too - thought I did well in May when I got the pro kit for $1699 after cash back. I console myself by thinking of all those great photos I've taken since then, which I would have missed otherwise.

      • Are you guys both happy with your purchase? How do you find the 12-40 indoors in average light???

Are you happy with the pics if you crank the ISO up to 800?

        • I don't have the 12-40 myself, but with good RAW development software (DxO Optics, with PRIME NR, for example) my discerning eyes can tolerate up to ISO 1600 if necessary. Even beyond that if the subject matter doesn't demand high levels of fine detail reproduction and print/display sizes are limited to ~A4 or 2-3MP.

But it's a very situational, very subjective issue.

        • Yes, no regrets whatsoever in ditching my D90 for the E-M1 pro kit.

12-40mm f2.8 lens is truly stunning, esp in indoor average lighting. I usually leave it in Auto ISO mode with max limit of 800, as it's pretty much noise free up to that point. Also, remember that the 5-axis in-body image stabilisation is very effective and allows quite low shutter speeds, I can confidently take it down to 1/8s. If absolutely required, I'll bump the ISO up to 1600 which starts to introduce some noise.

Another feature of the pro kit which I've grown to appreciate is the weatherproofness of the set up. On quite a few occasions, I've taken it out for shots whilst drizzling and it was good to know that I wasn't risking any damage.
