Teracopy is already 50% off this Xmas but if you'd like an even deeper discount on this great piece of software a group buy gets you a pretty good price cut of between 15% to 40% depending on the number of licenses bought. The license is a lifetime license and doesn't expire.

If you're computer savvy you most probably will have used Teracopy before and they are releasing a new v3 version sometime next year. You're probably OK with using the free version but if you want additional Pro features or just want to support the dev, buy a key!

If you have not used a file copier replacement before, then the low-down on Teracopy is that it's a great piece of software for moving large numbers of files, or very large files around, and it provides far more features than the default Windows copy dialog.

    Teracopy is great, even the free version, but would the lifetime license include the upgrades as well?

      • one user on multiple computers (example: a desktop computer and a personal laptop which are both used exclusively by you)
      • multiple users on a single computer (example: a home computer which is shared by all family members)

    This program is alright but sometimes it can't move a file etc..

    so it need to copy it first and delete it..

    but windows explorer can move that file with requiring you to do that..

      It's probably because of permissions, maybe it launched without being given administrator privileges?

      I think the V3 version may fix the problem.

      Update from December 12:

      TeraCopy now can avoid UAC prompts while reading files usually requiring elevation. This will eliminate possible ‘access denied’ errors in a middle of the copy process. For security reasons this feature will be available only to non-elevated administrators, users with a ‘standard account’ will still be required to start TeraCopy with admin privileges.

        yeah I use ver 2.3 and also enable
        -use teracopy as default copy handler

        It never ask for permissions because I use it as the default copy handler

        It is annoying when I am dragging a folder to another folder
        and it says cannot move this folder, do you want to copy it first
        then delete it..

    Pointless. The file copier in Win 8 is perfectly serviceable and can pause too. Piffle.

      After using this program, I would not buy it..
      until they fix that file protection issue…

      It's too annoying whenever I drag and drop a folder to move it to another, the message pop up about
      -cannot move this file, would like to copy it first and delete it.

      Good luck with the group by…but not recommended to buy it right now..
