I know reviews are subjective, but it seems to be poorly reviewed: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/sunbeam-mixmaster-classic.…

    • I don't get what it is about mixers though, looking at reviews on the site you'd think you need to spend $500 to get a descent mixer, its a pretty basic appliance surely some of the cheaper ones must be alright?

Either way beased on the price at other retails still a bargain, thanks OP.

      • I don't really cook/bake, so I can't say. A friend of mine is a chef and swears by the Kitchen Maids.
Apparently the premium cost is justifiable, nearly impossible to kill and do an incredible job.

        shrug

      • These cheap mixers can only whip cream/eggs and beat batters. You need a more expensive mixer (like KitchenAid) for heavier tasks like bread/pizza dough.

I have this and love it, only thing is you may need to scrape down the sides to get it to mix everything in the bowl (like when doing cake batter I use a spatula). I have had no issues with the bowl getting stuck or not being able to get beaters in or anything else. I have had it for 18 months.

Yes, I have the same issue with needing to scrape the sides of the bowl, but if you use it infrequently like me I think it's a decent machine for the price. A great retro look too.

  • owned for around 2yrs without any fault. bought for around this price too back then.

  • Got it for 99 about a year back. Mainly used to mix cake mix, etc. Very happy with it and love the retro look.

Haven't tried it with bread/pizza so can't comment on that.

  • Seems like the other prices are just mass ripoffs , more so than this price being a bargain.

You can get decent enough planetary mixers for not much more which are in a class of their own compared to this

  • I have a 50 year old sunbeam mix master in the shed that still works. Quality.
