Which Vacuum Cleaner to buy from Harvey Norman?

Just after some advice… I want to buy a new vacuum this week and will be buying it from Harvey Norman because I have an expiring gift card. I want a decent one because we will be getting a ragdoll and bulldog soon. Basically because it is from HN which generally are a rip off, I want to buy the best value for money one and won't buy anything which is not on sale.

Here is the full list:

But I think I have decided on either of these:

Dyson DC54 Animal Complete (similar to the Pro $1099 RRP) for $746

Miele S8790 Premium Total Care ($999 RRP) for $679

Bosch Relaxx'x All Floor for $849 RRP

Bosch Zoo'o ProAnimal for $729 RPP

I would only consider the Bosch if they can come down from RRP prices but a decent amount.

In the same position would you have a preference in which you would buy?

Dyson DC59 Animal was my best buy for 2014.
Our house is 200sqm, carpet in all bedrooms and the rest are tile. One messy 2yr old and a dog.
I personally could not go back to conventional vacuum cleaners, being cordless and very light weight for me means I don't need to procrastinate on cleaning any more.

  • I would skip all of them and go for a Nilfisk, best warranty, performance at a fraction of the price. Much quieter also and bags and filters won't cost you a fortune.

I used to sell all of these and trust me when I say that you pay for the brand name on Dyson and Miele. Kind of like buying a BMW, does the same job, at a much larger price when compared to others.

  • Thumbs up for Miele. We bought our first Miele 'Cat & Dog' 10 years ago, it was so good that we bought another one for upstairs few years ago. We have a cat, a dog, 3 messy young kids (& husband), we use both vacuums almost every day. Floor boards, tiles, rugs all good.
The Miele Cat & Dog is $559 at the moment at HN.

    • I have a miele cat and dog cleaner as well as 2 cats, a not so young child (and a wife) and it does a pretty good job. You do need to clean it though as my daughter's long hair tends to block the little rotating thingy in the powerhead (think rapunzel). 5 minutes to clean and I use a 5c piece to unscrew the large easy-access screws. You can't beat a bag system to minimise dust when you empty it.
