Dell Optiplex GX1

Hi Guys,

I'm not really looking for a bargain, but more of a specific model of old PC.

  • Dell Optiplex GX1 in working condition
  • Pentium 3, around 450mhz
  • Standard IDE hard disk
  • Don't care how much ram it has
  • Don't need a screen, keyboard, mouse, etc
  • Don't care what form factor it is

The model has to be quite specific as I need to drop an NT4 image on top of it, and if I recall correctly, NT4 is a bit finicky when it comes to transplanting hardware.

In terms of pricing, anything reasonable. I can have it couriered from anywhere in Australia, but don't particularly want to import. Bonus points if it's around Bankstown / Milperra

    Can't you just buy a normal machine and run NT4 in a VM??

      Tried that, unfortunately the software doesn't run if I set it up from scratch (there must be some extra stuff in setting up the software), and I can't get a P2V working either (none of the VMWare P2V agent versions I used seem to run well on this environment). I think I am reduced to cloning the disk and dropping it into a similar machine.

      More background: the PC is buried inside an autoclave controller built around 15 years ago. It talks to the controller via ethernet. There are no controller cards like in most other old industrial machines I have dealt with. We are planning to renovate the machine in about 6 months time… But I am looking for something to cover hardware failure until then.
