Was getting 1.02-1.08 from street exchanger in Clarke Key last month if that helps. Chinatown seemed to have the best rate.
advise i always got was to convert you cash in singapore. i cant remember the exact reason, but the money converters dont get paid the same way they do in oz.
there was a few in funan digitallife mall (city hall) which had good rates but i dare say they will be as competitive anywhere.
Try actually bargaining with the exchange shop. Especially if you are changing a lot at once.
Last time i ws there i would exchange 500 AUD cash in 100 notes for SGD and boom no dramas no shady business. bloke hands me close to 600 easy
Hi, I am an Aussie living in Singapore. Singapore is probably the cheapest country I have seen in the world for FX'ing, there is always no transaction fee, the fx spread is about 1-3% at premium places such as Changi Airport. If you passes Lucky Plaza in Orchard, or Arcade in Raffles Place, the AUDSGD spread is about 0.5%, there are about 20+ money changers at the same place, that's where the locals go. Would recommend you to change in Singapore.
