Nexus 7 2013 Repairs

Hi guys, does anyone in Melbourne know of a place that will repair my 2013 Nexus 7, which I dropped? The screen has a tiny crack on the edge, and now the touch input barely works. I can't seem to find anyone who wants to touch the 2013.

  • If it's a wi-fi only model, I think you are better off buying a refurbished or even a new one rather than trying to get it repaired. The repair cost would definitely be north of $100. Have a look at the recent refurb. Nexus deals here on OZB.

Having said that, if you have some time to spare, ordering the LCD + digitizer assembly from eBay and changing it yourself is not that hard at all. The part is around $70. There are videos on YouTube on how to do the whole process. The tricky bit is using heat gun or hair dryer to separate the glued in assembly from the bezel. If you can spend a bit more, there are assemblies with the bezel included as well.

I attempted to do the same myself on the exact same model. Everything went well except that I was a bit overzealous with applying the heat and managed to warp the bezel :)

  • yeah I've heard the repairs are not worth trying yourself. I can't even find anywhere that will do it in Melbourne.
