24/7 International warranty is fantastic. You just never know if your blender is going to stop working in the middle of the night while you're on an overseas holiday.

    • Its good for travelleres or tourist i think.
My mum comes from Pakistan and she loves to buy electronic stuff from here as it is better quality. Having international warranty is satisfaction she will have.

  • +1

and "Access to expert support team"

awesome to get to talk to the 'will it blend guy' whenever i get the urge

    • That's Blendtec mate to get the blender capable of doing what his does in the videos they cost around AUD$1600+

  • while I'm waiting for the blades on the kogan to crap themselves I will order this one, only 1.5ltr though

    • +1

jeeez,, 3 horse power ,38000rpm,, wonder if i turn it upside down it would fly away

      • 3 horsepower lel. insanely powerful :D

  • +2

I know nothing about blenders but it seems like a lot to pay for a 1.5L blender (ignoring anything to do with this particular model).

    • I don't get it either, for $300 you can get a whole food processor with a blender and it's probably made of glass as well not this plastic crap

      • This is their cheapest model.
I looked at the Optimums as an alternative to the Vitamix that my wife so desperately wanted. We ended up with a Vitamix but if I had chosen I would of given the Optimum a go.
In saying that the Vitamix is awesome (yes and it's bloody expensive).

      • convenience, power, size ( it can stay sitting on the bench) and love of smoothies and much cheaper than a granita machine

      • +2

xcal I've had a 'plastic' vitamix for nearly 10 years and it is used more than once every day -nothing crappy about the plastic in that, it will outlive you and me! In the same time I have smashed about 4 glass juice jugs on my greenstar juicer and it gets used a lot less.

      • +1

It is plastic for safety reasons. You can't go attaching glass to a 3 horse power motor without it ending in tears and lawsuits

    • +1

What you dont understand is the sheer power of one of these things. A food processor is a toy compared to the power of these things. Go to youtube and type 'will it blend' an have a look at what they do. I like the one where they blend a garden rake - handle first!

      • +1

ok why would you put a garden rake in a blender?
I understand it will destroy it but why would you?
Is it the bigger the better mentality?

        • lol, nah it's just a marketing ploy to try for viral. Like the day they release a new iphone, these guys turn it to dust - literally. Gets people talking about their product as the 'best'. Although now i think of it, the rake handle probably is good fibre ;-)

      • Yes but it seems er … needlessly overpowered also :p

What are you actually losing by having a blender that's 25% the power of this thing? I suspect nothing at all because even that seems like overkill.

        • Well my wife wont use the clone at all as 25% less power kinda sucks once you have had the genuine item. In real terms, it just blends tough greens and stems (and trunks!) so quickly, so nicely. Actually even a banana smoothie is noticeably chunkier in the clone. You just have to pulse blend it more times (remember we are talking 2 ltrs worth). A Toyota gets you from A to B, but a Ferrari just does it so much better.

  • Looks like a blendtec clone. I have a vitamix and a vitamix clone. The clone is nowhere near as good. Pitty they dont compare it to a blendtec in their stats.

  • I have an OmniBlend, which seems to be exactly the same. It's fantastic. I would recommend a 2L jug though.

    • me too - it's brilliant. I was making a smoothie last weekend and my one year old kindly helped by putting a nectarine stone in the bowl of fruit I had just destoned. I tipped it in without realising and there was a brief moment of an extra loud grind before going back to normal.
We then enjoyed an extra fibrous smoothie - tiny little splinters of wood throughout! Probably could have blended it some more to get rid of them but wasn't too fussed about it.
I thought that was quite impressive though - it handled it very easily (not that I'd recommend it)

      • Yeah I've done similar with supposedly pitted dates hahah

  • Bunch of blokes in my office bought these (and I for mumsy's xmas present), all are very impressed. Granted, it sounds like a jet engine spinning up but it reduces whatever you stick inside to liquid in a matter of seconds. Highly recommended.

  • Kogan looks similar albeit without some buttons and a horrid "Kogan" branding

    • +1

      and the exploding blades

      • Haven't heard about this? Is there a link to info/source on this happening? I've got the Kogan one so I would be interested in the info. Haven't had any kind of issue with it other than it has the ugly Kogan on the front…otherwise the thing pretty much kicks arse. At $69+free delivery the price was right as well :)

        • over at whirlpool, there have been 3 so far with broken blades,, i haven't had any issues with mine either and it has been getting an absolute flogging over the past 3 weeks
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2345282&p…

        • @warmbeer05: my Logan blender/cooker died the first time we used it. They wouldn't send out a replacement, wanted us to go through their bull troubleshooting etc fill in forms etc Dude it made, magic smoke we are not doing anything. Never doing kogan again.

        • @smoke87:
This is my first transaction with them, found them to be ok to deal with just a little slow and bloody annoyed that my blender is like a jack in the box, just waiting for it to scare the crap outta me, at least you got magic smoke though, I'd prefer magic smoke than a blade to the head at 27000rpm, having said that it made a great screwdriver over crushed ice tonight

  • +3

If you guys want a similar model as a vitamix, get the 9400 instead. It's also on sale for ~$479 and the code still applies. So it would be $459

    • -1

      LEL …

  • -1

Kogan blender was a better deal for $69.

    • +1

Sorry but that is a ridiculous comparison. These blenders will literally blend anything edible, to any consistency you like, without burning out or blowing up, for a looong time… guaranteed. Green smoothies, almond butter, pureed anything. So close to the quality and usability of the professional $1000+ machines it's not funny. The Kogan blender might be fine for fruit smoothies and milk shakes but try making green smoothies or almond butter regularly. You just won't be able to.

      • my $69 kogan is still running fine, ice, frozen smoothies, peanut butter and a soup, blends everything nice and smooth.. If it wasn't for the bloody exploding blades it would be a bargain with a 5yr warranty.Going to order one of the optimum when it dies. Kogan are very much aware of the blade issue and I would be suprised If they don't go the same route as Aldi and supply new jug and blades,,which would make the $69 a brilliant deal..

The optimum I can guarantee that it isn't 7 times better ( hence the price) than the kogan/Aldi blender

      • I'm currently making almond milk in a 1.5L blender that cost me 40 bucks … have never burnt out or er … exploded ("blown up") a blender before including this one. Have you ever exploded a blender before?

I'm sure it must be difficult to come to that point of view after you've made the transaction - I mean look what it means about you :D - but to me it seems like a rip off. It's not really a more capable blender for the price as I can do that in something that costs 10% of the price.

        • I know it seems as when people talk ever so negatively about a deal, others take it as a personal jab against them, because they purchased the product. When I ever purchase something I do not tie my identity to it if I made a mistake, I learn and it makes me a better OzBargainer for the future. Only time can tell whether this product is more suitable for those which want a better quality product and are willing to pat extra for it.

        • Had a old kenwood died after a few years and the kogan pretty much replaced the kenwood, off memory the kenwood was around $250-300 and doesn't come anywhere close to the performance of the kogan. I'm hanging out till the kogan blades die before I replace it, hopefully kogan will replace jug/blades before that happens
Just finished making vegie smoothie in Kogan including carrots, kale, beetroot, zuccini, ginger etc, 10second blend time to get job done

        • I'm reasonably sure you would have a different opinion if you had the opportunity to use one of the better quality blenders on a regular basis. On the other hand you may be someone who just has basic requirements. If you're satisfied with what your blender does then that makes it a bargain for you however that does NOT mean everyone else will be satisfied. By your statement, anyone who buys more than a $70 blender is just a stupid 'fanboy' which is an opinion you are entitled to … no matter how ill-informed. My last cheap blender didn't blow up but it did start smoking and the one before the rubber seals fell to pieces which is why I got fed up with the cheap stuff.

        • @bigpallooka:
We have a vitamix sitting at work that's been there for about 3-4yrs get's used on a daily basis,It isn't 10 times better than the kogan to justify the original price of the thing, but hey Mrs Boss likes her miday smoothies, If you can afford it go for it I say, personally I carn't justify spending that much on a blender.. the optimum after the kogan for me = much better option with a 7yr warranty

        • @Davo93:
@Davo93 I'm afraid that is a 2 way street. Denigrating someone else's choice to buy a product more suited to a persons personal needs (whatever they might be) because it is more expensive (no matter how much more expensive) is also tying your identity to your own personal choice. The reality is that we all have a set of different needs and rules we use to choose our 'bargains'. Yours may well be different to mine but no less valid. The real issue at question is whether comparing items of completely different specs and quality is even valid. This 'Blender' is directly marketed as an alternative to the Nutri-bullet. Maybe that is really the only relevant comparison. The rest is just 'information' from helpful users or an effort to ridicule by price without much relevance to comparable performance. Anyone who thinks they are achieving the same results using the Kogan blender as they would achieve with this Optimum let alone achieve these results over the life of the product with confidence in replacement and service must have a different set of conditions they work under than most other people or mad skills. Congratulations to them. I wish I had the same. As I don't the Optimum is a 'Bargain' for me when I compare quality, purpose, service and price with it's direct competitors.

        • @warmbeer05:
@warmbeer05 I'm not sure what your point is. Firstly, we are talking about an Optimum 8200 which is directly marketed as an alternative to Nutri-Bullet and is considerably cheaper than the Vitamix blenders. Secondly, the Optimum 9400 is the Vitamix competitor and is currently half the price which probably makes it a 'Bargain' for some also.

  • Please advise me between OPTIMUM 8200 or 9400, what is the difference, and which one is better

HOpefully ill get one soon :)

    • +1

Go to the website linked above in the deal. It has heaps of information about the products and lots of technical comparisons with other brands. It will help you make an informed choice.

The 8200 is the domestic version while the 9200/9400 are commercial versions with either dials or buttons and a few other feature differences

      EDIT:
      http://www.optimum-appliances.com/faqs.html
The last paragraph in the blender section compares the models
And a link to a direct comparison here:

      • Cheers mate!

We have an optimum 9200. Gets used every day. Brilliant. Froothie are great to deal with too.

  • I just bought the 9400 new-model. I was first attracted by the buttons and timer of the 8200 but then decided on the extra quality and control of the knob/dial of the 9400 :) Can't wait. oh, and it's red so it should go faster LOL
