Huawei G526 Won't Boot Up

HI all…I bought a Huawei G526 in June last year. It was a Vodaphone model which I unlocked using a code from bagman. The other day the phone turned on and now won't get past the start screen. It just says Huawei Ascend and freezes on this screen. I was opening a lot of windows at once, say 15-20 in chrome. Could this make the phone to freeze up? Also, it was being charged a lot on a car phone charger.

What are my options to fix it? I have lost my receipt from kmart.

Thanks for any advice.

  • Try restarting after removing the sim and micro sd card.
If that is no good try removing the battery for a while.

  • I tried that, unfortunately no luck.

    • Power on the phone while holding the volume UP button. Does it go into recovery mode? If you can boot into recovery, you'll be presented with a few options — choose the option to wipe data/ factory reset.

Yes, you will lose saved data on your device, and yes, the phone will be put back to it's original settings.

If nothing else works then contact the shop and get a replacement device.

For future reference, most Android phones have a similar recovery system. The buttons required to press to invoke this special boot up menu is usually power + volume up, but it may be different on other models.

  • Ok, thanks, will give it a try.

  • Nothing worked, so I returned it to Kmart. They sent it away and it was replaced with a new one.

  • Did they whinge about you not having the receipt?

  • I still had the receipt luckily. They were good about it. I even returned another unopened G526 on the same day, 8 months after purchasing and the manager gave me a refund!

  • -1

    huawei brand says it all.

  • 2 year warranty on these btw, if the retailer won't honour it, Vodafone will
