  • Thanks richie. Been wondering when a new beer was due.

  • +5

I remember (or do I?) having a case of this a while back, it's a nice lager style beer.

    • lol +1 for that :)

  • Great beer, great price.
I think its about $45 a case, so this is cheaper than a case

  • Great deal, but stupid bloody fancy euro 330ml bottles.

    • -2

that entire 45mL you miss out on must really hurt the hip pocket.

      • +5

And yet I vote positive and you don't?

        Bit hypocritical.

      • 45ml x 6 = 270ml. It adds up when you're downing a six-pack!

    • i feel your pain :p over there, you'd get a 500ml bottle

    • ~$42 for a slab

    • Show them the ad and Dan Murphy's will beat it anyway. I'm surprised they haven't already reduced theirs in response to this promo.

      • I tried getting Dan Murphy's to match the awesome BWS sappora deal and the guy just laughed at me . I won't bother wasting my fuel and time getting to Murphy's again .

        • That's cos Dan Murphy's and BWS are both owned by Woolworths. What's the point in price matching?
The money will go to the same bank account.

I used to work at BWS and we didn't ever do price matching as well.

          • +1

@lastman: why not then? whats the point? if it goes to the same bank account?

            • -1

@spida: Because Woolworths will be losing money if their OWN companies start price matching EACH OTHER. Do you understand that?

When I was working at BWS we had so many customers asking if we price matched and the answer was always no. Guess what the customer's response was?
"I'll never shop here again. I'll go to (Dan Murphy's, Liquor Land, Safeway liquor) from now on." I just laughed my arse off.

Each one of Woolworths Liqour brands targets a different segment of the market. So price matching is a waste of time and money.

              • +2

@lastman: Even though BWS and dan murphy's is the same company, Dan Murphy's clearly advertise the fact that they beat any advetised prices.

                • @TheBooleanOne: Yeah, DM did price match for me last time there was a beer of the month special - the salesperson had to check with the manager, and then checked again when they saw that it was reducing the price from $17.99 to $10 because of the amount of the reduction, but the manager just said "fine, but ask to keep the voucher". It is easier buying it at BWS though (if they are closer to you and you only want the beer), as it's less faffing about.

              • @lastman: Liquor Land is owned by Westfarmers - the mob that owns Coles Group - not Woolies.

        • they have to price match
ask for the manager and don't let up till you get it for that price.
I've price matched at out local DM with these BWS monthly coupons numerous times.
Have used two diff coupons that usually overlapped at one time with no question at all.

@cactus68: Why go to such trouble?
Just go to BWS and get the deal there…

            • @Matador_OZ: Yep, there's a lot to be said for that! Dunno about most areas, but in mine there's more BWS than DM's, and more than one a heck of a lot closer! ;)

I usually only go to DM's when they've got stuff on sale I want, then I stock up and get them to PM stuff I also want that's cheaper elsewhere at the time! Otherwise even I'd just go to the source for a single sale item! :)

          • @cactus68: Technically they don't have to price match. This is a 'mates offer' which requires membership. It isn't an advertised price, you couldn't walk in off the street and buy it at $10.

However, you would hope they would still match it, just for the sake of keeping you happy - especially considering they are part of the same group!

  • +1

I'll try it out for $10 . It's great not having to buy a whole carton to try it or get raped buying a 6 pack .

    • -1

You are right, I still remember the carton of urine I got from Aldi.

  • What I don't get is why this is only valid for 11 days - not even half a month!

I know the last one came out early then finished early (10th September to 6th October):

    http://www.beerwinespirits.com.au/media/7760.pdf

…then there is 2 weeks without any, then this one for a week and a half.

    Strange….

  • How do you even pronounce this beer lol

    • +3

      Apparently:

      http://www.howjsay.com/index.php?word=lowenbrau

I would probably say "low-en-brow" though!

      • ==I would probably say “low-en-brow” though!==

yeah, i'd tend to go with that pronunciation in non-German speaking countries. just to avoid any confusion/puzzled looks :D

  • +1

woolies used to have this at $39.99 years ago and it used to be a staple purchase
for us, nice taste might buy it again for $10.

  • Any idea how to get on the BWS mailing list for the monthly promo?

    • If you look on their website, you can see a "BWS Mates" sign - click on that and put in your details, and you will get sent the offers directly to your email account.

      • Thanks

  • They make a ripper pork knuckle :P

  • Thanks for this, i will get it. Glad it goes until 1st Nov, cause that includes 2 Sundays, so i can get it after tennis with a meal. We go for dinner right accross the road to a BWS.
