Looking for big screen handheld tetris game console for Mother-in-law - recommendations?

Hi, my mother-in-law is 71 years old but addicted to the Tetris game. We bought her a Nintendo Gameboy but the screen is too small for her. She is asking for a bigger screen but it is hard to find a game console that has big screen suitable for older folks. We thought of a PSP but dont know if the number of buttons on that thing will be helpful for her.

Do you guys know any game console that is great for old folks?

Thanks

  • "Dr Mario and Tetris" on SNES or SNES Emulator

    • Sorry I should be more specific…not looking for a TV type console…we are looking for a handheld gaming device.

Nintendo 3ds XL, try eBay — there are a lot of good condition consoles out there.

a tablet of any sort, there are many tetris games on both the google play store and the itunes store. buy a old ipad or a 7" samsung tablet or even 10" samsung would be good

If it's just Tetris you're after you don't need the latest and greatest.. I'd go Dsi XL. I'm sure you could get console plus game for less than $80.

I was going to suggest this also. You don't need the 3DS. The DSi XL is the same size and there are a number of great Tetris games on the DS.

    • Thanks for that too. I think the DSI XL's screen (being slightly more squarish) is better than the JXD's screen's aspect ratio and being a Tetris game, you kinda need the vertical real estate space. I will go take a look at the real unit this weekend.

Also it seems EB Games has the DXI XL for about $50 pre owned. I will take a closer look.

These are good suggestions. Thanks guys.

  • Google Brick Game, these are knockoffs but usually bigger games. Well all Tetris games are knockoffs anyway. The original developer never made money off it

    • That's because he lived in communist Russia, so everything is owner by the government. The original version on the gameboy is the original code. There is a BBC documentary called "From Russia with love" you should check out of you want the full story.
