Fitbit Charge HR - Plum Large

Hiya,

Wanting to buy a Fitbit Charge HR in plum or blue. I did consider the new Surge but it's a little too pricey.

Best prices I could find at $177 at HN & $178 at OW (black only). Dick Smith are still $199 and only have black from the looks of it. HN and OW don't appear to have stock at the moment.

Anyone able to help on better deals? Would DS match the pre-order amount?

  • You should get a Fitbit Zip, as that one is only $67 at HN (or less 5% with pricematch at Officeworks) and has a battery that is replaceable.

Most of these devices have built-in batteries, which would make them E-waste in a few years time - this is not easily recyclable and terrible for the environment.

    • I actually have one of these already plus a Pebble and Lifetrack watch. What I've really wanted is a watch that does the Heart Rate as well.

As much as I don't want a rechargeable as I like that the Lifetrak is replaceable and it has a long battery life!

      • Just so you know. I wouldn't recommend purchasing it for heart rate. DC rainmaker recently did a review for the fitbit surge, which uses the same heart rate sensor and found it inaccurate.

I think the HR version of the charge is still better than the charge because of the watch type band.

        • ooops too late - we will see how it goes.

  • The Charge in burgundy is only very new out and very rare - $177 is a good price. I got the regular Charge at HN when they had $20'voucher for click and collect. Haven't seen it cheaper since.

Most rewards programs (Qantas FF, flybuys etc) have them - use points if you have them?

I "upgraded" from the flex because I was sick of not being able to tell the time but I kind of miss the flex. The Charge is not water resistant (don't wear it in the shower or do the washing up!) and is quite bulky. The small size is much smaller (circumference) than the flex so most ppl go for the large. It also tends to irritate more with sweat.

But this is all about biding time until the Apple watch, right? ;)

    • thanks for that - ended up getting one today $199 with $1 extra for an additional year warranty. I was advised that if I lost it or the battery went flat, they would replace it. Seemed a good deal to me.

      • +1

Fitbit were pretty good with me 6 months in I washed my One and told them that's what I had done .. they asked em to let it dry out and see if it came back after a few days, when it didn't they sent em a new one for no cost.
